  • The Purpose Of Play

From My Latest Blog - The purpose of play:

Think of two Lion cubs, wrestling, playing hide and seek. Sure they are having fun, but in essence the reason they are playing is to train and prepare themselves - both physically and mentally - for the more intense game of life. A game where their lives are at stake, if they lose they might severely compromise not only their own lives but the lives of their pack members. Many animals play in order to PREPARE themselves for the stresses they will be exposed to, and they will have to overcome just to stay alive. Play is a low-risk version of ‘kill or be killed’.
