For movie night this week, we're checking out the fifth entry in one of the best slasher series ever made: Scream! Radio Silence takes up creative responsibility from Wes Craven (RIP) and Kevin Williamson to add their own commentary on modern horror trends like "Elevated Horror" and the ever-present requels. Series mainstays like Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox return to guide a new generation of victims (such as The Boys' Jack Quaid, X's Jenna Ortega, and In the Heights' Melissa "Cold Champagne" Barrera) through the perils of finding one's self in a slasher to great effect.

We're following up our episode on Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a review of a movie we ACTUALLY liked: Turning Red! The latest film from Disney-Pixar - helmed by Oscar-winning Bao creator Domee Shi - stars Rosalie Chiang as Meilin, a young girl growing up in 2002 Toronto with a mother (Sandra Oh) who she loves, but feels the innate need to please. To make matters worse, every time Meilin experiences an extreme emotion, she turns into a giant red panda. It's here - our FIRST review! We watched Netflix's new Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the 3rd film in history to have that title) as our inaugural movie and some may say it's a doozy. David Blue Garcia's slasher is the latest entry in the long lineage of Texas Chainsaw Massacre films and the series' 4th attempt at a reboot in the 21st century. Trying to capitalize off of other "requels" like Halloween and Scream, this Texas Chainsaw Massacre brings back original Final Girl Sally Hardesty alongside Elsie Fisher (of Eighth Grade fame) and Sarah Yarkin as sisters in a group of influencers trying to gentrify the hometown of one Bubba Sawyer AKA Leatherface. Did we like it? Gotta listen to find out!

Dope is a hilarious modern coming-of-age tale filled to the brim with heart, 90's nostalgia, and an amazingly talented cast (Shameik Moore, Kiersey Clemens, Tony Revolori, Zoë Kravitz, and more) who have all gone on to have great careers. By that, I mean they're all in superhero movies now. But hey, where else can you see Spider-Man, Catwoman, Flash Thompson, Iris West, and A$AP Rocky share the big screen?

Happy Valentine's Day, mates! With so much love in the air, we decided to watch one of the best romantic comedies released in the 2010s: Crazy Rich Asians. John M. Chu's classic has an all-star cast with legends such as Michelle Yeoh and Ken Jeong along with newer faces like Awkwafina, Constance Wu, and possible future James Bond Henry Golding - AND EVERYONE IS SO HOT. Full warning, Crazy Rich Asians will not only melt your heart, but it will also make you SO hungry.

Some may say this movie is Warner Bros and DC making up for Suicide Squad, one of the worst superhero movies of the 2010s, and they are right. The cast, chemistry, action, gore, music, costumes, story - everything is amazing in this movie! It's so good, it even has Jess - a DIE HARD MCU stan - questioning her allegiance. Before attempting to adapt Cowboy Bebop to the screen, Netflix tried Death Note to a frighteningly similar effect. This week we watch Adam Wingard's Death Note, starring Naked Brothers Band alum Nat Wolff as Netflix's take on Light Yagami (or Turner) one of the coldest and most calculating anti-heroes of the 21st century. As two fans of the source material, Dan and Jess sort of wished Death Notes were real by the end so they could write their own names in one.
