It wasn’t a blockbuster back in the day, but it did cause the world to recognize how great Geena Davis was, and catapulted her into a long and fruitful movie career including movies like … eeeeeh. Like … Eeeeh. Hmm… No, she didn’t do much after this, did she?

The Jackal – played by Bruce Willis – is that rare kind of assassin who, being tasked to “pick up some milk on your way home, honey” would most likely take this as an excuse to rob a bank to be able to afford a dairy farm, where he would build the most intricate of contraptions to slaughter cows and separate their milk from the rest of the bodies, only to realize that he needed to murder the owner of a bottling plant in order to get bottles for the milk…

It all started out so upbeat and light-hearted. Just a couple of bank robberies, see. Just a couple of mortgage papers being set on fire or blown up. Nothing stolen, really, just millions of dollars of the bank’s money being destroyed through a form of securities fraud. It’s so fun, even his girlfriend tags along. It’s all fun and games – at least … until the day that it isn’t.

Fortunately, it was all just a dream.

It’s a rare movie to have gathered so much raw power in its actors. I mean – it’s hard to deny that Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn are two of the greatest actors of the mid-20th century. Anthony Hopkins became one of the most impressive faces in cimena during the century’s second half. Also, Timothy Dalton is okay, I suppose.
