It all started out so upbeat and light-hearted. Just a couple of bank robberies, see. Just a couple of mortgage papers being set on fire or blown up. Nothing stolen, really, just millions of dollars of the bank’s money being destroyed through a form of securities fraud. It’s so fun, even his girlfriend tags along. It’s all fun and games – at least … until the day that it isn’t.

Fortunately, it was all just a dream.

It’s a rare movie to have gathered so much raw power in its actors. I mean – it’s hard to deny that Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn are two of the greatest actors of the mid-20th century. Anthony Hopkins became one of the most impressive faces in cimena during the century’s second half. Also, Timothy Dalton is okay, I suppose.
