On Tuesday, November 2, 2021 Judge Daniel Hall ordered an injunction and appointed receivers to manage and recover funds that could pay alleged victims currently suing disgraced attorney Alex Murdaugh.

Hall made his decision four days after attorney ⁠Mark Tinsley⁠ presented his arguments to appoint two outside parties — attorney John T. Lay Jr. and former U.S. attorney Peter M. McCoy Jr. — to have control over Alex and Buster Murdaugh’s assets, which is known as “receivership” in the court.

We also hear from the attorney representing Gloria Satterfield's estate, ⁠Eric Bland⁠ whose investigation into the handling of Gloria's insurance settlement uncovered a heap of evidence which SLED and the SC Attorney General's office used to charge Alex with fraud and other indictments.

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 South Carolina Judge Clifton Newman made a shocking decision in denying Alex Murdaugh bond. Murdaugh was arrested in Orlando, Florida Thursday and charged with two felony ⁠counts ⁠of obtaining property by false pretenses related to the ⁠Gloria Satterfield⁠ case, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

In this special breaking edition of the Murdaugh Murders Podcast, Investigative Journalist ⁠Mandy Matney⁠ discusses the bond hearing for Alex Murdaugh, who is accused of stealing millions from the Satterfield family. 

Prosecutor Creighton Waters detailed how Murdaugh allegedly set up a fake Forge account to misappropriate $3.4 million from the Satterfield settlement. Despite Murdaugh's defense team arguing for a personal recognizance bond, citing his recovery from addiction, Judge Clifton Newman denied bond, citing Murdaugh's danger to himself and the community. The judge also ordered a psychiatric evaluation. The Satterfield family's attorneys argued for serious financial restrictions on Murdaugh's assets.

On Thursday, October 14, Alex Murdaugh was arrested on two felony charges related to the Gloria Satterfield Case. Those charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, each carrying up to 10 years in prison.

In episode 13 of The Murdaugh Murders Podcast, Investigative Journalist ⁠Mandy Matney⁠ speaks with Satterfield family attorney Eric Bland about what the charges mean for his clients — the victims — and what is next for Alex Murdaugh. Will he be able to get out of this?The charges stem from a $3.5 million settlement for Gloria Satterfield's death, which Murdaugh allegedly misappropriated. Eric Bland, representing Satterfield's sons, expressed relief but criticized the limited initial charges.

Bland believes more federal charges, including mail fraud and money laundering, will be filed. The new developments also suggest Murdaugh's law firm and associates may know more than they are letting on. ⁠Gloria Satterfield⁠ died suspiciously in 2018 following an alleged “trip-and-fall” incident while working at one of the Murdaugh family homes. In this episode we explore the new developments brought about by her sons and their righteous pursuit for justice. 

Attorney ⁠Eric Bland⁠ explains that a $4.3 million settlement was diverted, with Murdaugh ultimately receiving the funds. Bland and Richter are working to hold all involved accountable, including the Murdaugh law firm known now as PMPED (later the Parker Law Group) and various banks.While Cory Fleming has reached a settlement with Gloria's estate, questions remain about his motivations. The South Carolina Supreme Court has suspended Cory Fleming's law license, but the question in this case now is who else will be held accountable for enabling these "Penslingers".

Alex Murdaugh was allegedly shot in a botched "Assisted Suicide Plot" on Saturday, September 4th, 2021.
