My Favorite DJ

I sit down with Joe Maz, super producer, top DJ, great human and friend. We open up with Joe's origin into the DJ world and how he started producing. Joe tells us how DiscoTech was formed, how he makes his signature brassy horn sound and gives advice to all of the producers or aspiring producers out there. This is a great conversation that covers a lot of important subjects with one of the games top open format DJs. Make sure to share by screen shot and IG story so others can benefit from this!

Driving around Miami with Ron from New York. I did a gig for him at a place he books called "Slate." I had a great time and I changed my mind about NY parties because of it. We go on a tour of Miami clubs and some places where clubs used to exist. We talk about nightlife experiences and what value DJs bring to Ron when he books them.

A featured mix from DJ AndOne! This mix was well planned and executed. I liked the transitions and they complimented the flow of the music. I feel like AndOne knows what he is good at and does that a lot, he doesn't over do the spots which could be considered weaker areas. Overall, a good mix that grew on me more and more as I listened.

An apology for being a little frustrated with a question from the last podcast. I explain myself and give some insight on how I will be better in the future. I answer a question about my custom made laptop back plate (Where I got it, how much it cost and how I justified paying for it.) I give insight to the pictures I post on my Instagram. How I take them and why I DON'T have a professional photographer coming with me. An interesting question about a DJ who works at TMZ and how they could use that job to springboard into other sectors of DJing.

It's been a busy week... I started a GoFundMe to pay DJs involved in a battle and 99% of the response has been positive! We raised $9,000 at the time of me writing this... In this podcast I address some of the opposing views I saw in regards to starting this fund raiser. I also ask that you guys take a look around at DJ influencers and community "leaders" that stayed silent throughout this coming together of the community to take care of some of our top talent. A question from Helsinki and a question that I can't answer....

Congratulations to all the DJ's that competed in the Redbull 3Style, a great showing! I give my thoughts on some of the things I would change about the competition and why I haven't competed in a while. A great set of questions ranging from "how should I restructure my contract with my agency?" to "how do you get the pictures from the club you're DJing at?" Thank you to everyone who continues to listen and share this podcast. It keeps growing and I am very thankful for that.

Mike is more than just the booker at The Living Room inside the W Hotel in Minneapolis. He oversees operations and is involved in different sectors of the night life space for the W. Before we spoke, Mike told me he didn't really like speaking too much so the podcast is a bit short. He was so comfortable and gave great answers once we started talking, I was thrown off by it and I stumbled a bit! We speak about what he looks for in the DJs he books and what a musically PERFECT night is for him.

Sitting down with John B. at his "Main Ingredient" office in Iowa. We talk about business, ideas, relationships and being real. John is an entrepreneur that currently owns restaurants and a night club (Eden Lounge) in Iowa City. I've been working with John for about 4 years and he is one of the hardest working and nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. A lot of information in this one.
