Welcome to first and long-delayed episode from A-Kon 27 from Dallas, Texas!

David Vincent

We first met David Vincent way back at Anime Banzai in 2012. While we’ve seen David a few other times since then, we’ve not been able to set down with him again for an interview so we were excited to catch up!

When we first interviewed David Vincent, his biggest roles in the anime world were as Grimmjow Jeagerjaques from Bleach and Van in Gun X Sword. Since then he’s added a lot more anime and video games to his résumé! David has been the voice of Archer/Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero, the all important talking piece of clothing Senketsu from Kill la Kill, Anonydeath from Hyperdimension Neptunia (in the game AND the anime and is one of the on only cast members to be on both releases), Jin Kisaragi from BlazBlue (both the anime and the game), Zebrin in Aldnoah.Zero, Robin from Fire Emblem, and just recently announced as Naze from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron ­Blooded Orphans that just started to air on Toonami!

My Geek Confessions: Alright, we are here at A­Kon 27, and we are here with our first guest with David Vincent, so thanks for returning to interview with us.

David Vincent: Hey, absolutely! It’s a pleasure to see you again, and-

MGC: It’s been like four years at this point?

DV: Yeah, yeah, that’s right. No, I’m excited to be here and it’s always good to see you guys.

MGC: Yeah I mean, we’ve seen you around, we just haven’t been able to interview at this point, so we’re just kinda glad to officially (for sure).

DV: Nail me down!

MGC: Yeah, exactly!

MGC: So it has been about four years since we’ve seen you last, so what have you been up to lately? ­ New projects, new anime?

DV: Oh gosh, since the last time?

MGC: What do you want to promote? (Yeah, new stuff you can promote, I mean?)

DV: Stuff that I can promote, uh, when is this going on, by the way?

MGC: Probably either this week or the next.

DV: Okay good, then I probably should be safe to announce the latest is Gundam: Iron ­Blooded Orphans.

We’re back for a very short episode before we’re gone to A-Kon 27. This week Maze Runner 3 is delayed until 2018, the new animated Spider-Man movie will feature Miles Morales, and soon lots of Disney movies will be making their way to Netflix. Your queue is about to get a lot more interesting!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

* This week we have two different great Honest Trailers from Screen Junkies. The first is an Honest TV Trailer for the still well-regarded (though dated looking) X-Men: The Animated Series. I had no idea about the Japanese opening before this! Second is a huge win in a lot of ways for the Honest Trailer guys. They actually got Deadpool (even voiced by Ryan Reynolds) to help be on the trailer! It’s pretty epic, so definitely give it a watch.

* Next up is a new episode of 50% Off just in time for Octopimp to arrive at A-Kon 27! We hope to be able to the guys behind 50% Off at A-Kon, interview or not, but we in the meantime, enjoy this episode!

* We have no idea if this is related the Dubsmash War that was going on the Marvel Television side of things that just recently concluded, but even if that’s not the case this is totally a great addition to it! Here is Nicolas Hoult as Beast and the rest of the X-Men rocking out to a much too short clip with all of them in costume! Apparently it was posted two weeks ago on James McAvoy’s Instagram but this was too great not to share! It definitely looks like they had fun on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

* There were plenty of big trailers that came out while we were gone, some better than others. First is the “final” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and our first look at Krang. Then there’s finally a trailer for the Assassin’s Creed movie starting Michael Fassbender. It does have elements of the game which looks good but some parts of the trailer give me pause. Last are two new trailers for Ghostbusters and Star Trek Beyond and both make the movies look a little better.

* Phil Lord and Chris Miller have two new series coming to FOX with Making History and Son of Zorn. Both definitely look very outside the norm but potentially fun. So far my favorite from the trailer is Making History but let us know what you think is better in the comments.

* The new Voltron doesn’t premiere until June 10th, but we finally have an official trailer and it definitely looks like it’s related to Avatar: The Last Airbender in style and humor which I think is definitely a good thing.

* There were a ton of trailers since our last episode! There are trailers for Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the new Jason Bourne sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence, Warcraft, the Magnificent Seven remake we didn’t even know was happening, Suicide Squad, and the Japanese made Shin Godzilla! * The greatest video in the history of mankind and the end of Dub Smash Wars. For now. Clark Gregg dressed as a flight attendant lip syncs Toxic and Hayley Atwell does Bad Romance.

* I admit that I forgot that Conan O’Brien visited South Korea, but this one video made the whole trip worth it if nothing else. One of the best music videos ever. K-Pop Conan as Conan and Steven Yeun team up with J.Y. Park (Jimin Park), Wonder Girls, and TWICE for “Fire” all centered around Conan’s string dance! The single is available on iTunes! * The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One finally dropped and I have to say this makes me more excited for Star Wars than The Force Awakens did, especially after it seemed like it was a big repeat of the other movies. Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments.

* Here’s the brand new trailer for The BFG, which finally gives us a look at The BFG himself and a better look at the giant world. The giant is played by Mark Rylance, most recently from Bridge of Spies, and it looks like they almost took a direct copy of his face.

* This is an Honest Trailer that I’ve been waiting for since the movie and it certainly does not disappoint. The Honest Trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens brings back all the previous announcers of Honest Trailers from the original and roast Star Wars: The Force Awaken in the way that Honest Trailers does best.

* This one seemed to catch even Stephen Colbert off guard, but he hosted the U.S. Television Debut of the Japanese Rock Metal band BABYMETAL and they do a fantastic job!

We took another unintentional week off because of Easter, and recording this after April Fool’s Day so you don’t think that anything we say is a joke. We review Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (which spoiler we didn’t like), wonder about Zack Snyder definition of fun, then spend a bunch of time on Talk Nerdy to Me.

In Talk Nerdy to Me, there’s a ton of sports anime on the horizon, a revival of FLCL, a live action FMA movie on the way, Escaflowne expands its cast, and the Hunter x Hunter dub is coming to Toonami!

* While we didn’t like Batman v Superman, one great from Batman was not 1 but 2 launch trailers for the new LEGO Batman movie, due out next year. My favorite is the second one with Alfred referencing every other Batman movie.

* This one caught us by surprise! We already reported on the new Voltron series that was on its way to Netflix but we just found out a bunch of new details. The new series is made by DreamWorks, continues the anime style (who knew DreamWorks could copy that style), and is set to launch on Netflix in June! Take a look at the trailer for the new Voltron reboot.

* Another huge surprise since our last episode was a bunch of new information on Final Fantasy XV! Not only is there a star-studded CGI movie on the way, but a five-part anime series that will air on YouTube and Crunchyroll in five 10 minute episodes. So far the trailer for the series and the first episode are available to watch right now subbed. There’s no word on the anime series being dubbed but we’re hopeful that eventually it will be. * There were lots of new trailers while we were gone. There’s  Now You See Me 2, X-Men: Apocalypse, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Captain America: Civil War. Make sure you wait until the very end of the Captain America: Civil War trailer to see the first appearance of Spider-man!

* SyFy is at it again and I have to admit this time I’m a little more receptive. From the same people who made “Sharknado” comes a new movie called “Dead 7.” This time members of N’Sync, Backstreet, O-Town, and 98 Degrees star in a western town being attacked by zombies. Joey Fatone looks like the town drunk but honestly looks to be the best part of the movie according to this trailer.

* The MCU continues to crossover into Ultimate Spider-man, this time it’s Fitz and Simmons from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. helping Spider-man and his friends develop new tech. We hope these cameos continue!

* A new crossover is taking place with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! This time the new 3D version is crossing over with the original 1980s cartoon and even has all the original voice actors from the original reprising their roles, including a very confused Rob Paulsen playing two different characters. (He’s really not confused but it’s fun to pretend he is since he’s playing on two different series in one here.)
