In Talk Nerdy to Me, Chris Pratt invites people to make him a Facebook cover, there’s the best song about Shonen Jump, Sailor Cup Noodle, and an American Naruto in development.

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

    * We promised we post them when they were officially released, and here they are! First is the trailer for the Deadpool trailer, and the official red band Deadpool trailer (which is mostly what was seen at Comic-Con but is upgraded with a couple changes.

    * Here is new trailer for Vin Diesel’s new movie The Last Witch Hunter though thankfully with 0% and 100% more crazy bad beard.

    * The first teaser trailer for Zoolander 2 hit, complete with an inside look at Derek Zoolander’s walnut sized brain.

    * Sam the Eagle and The Electric Mayhem Muppets do a cover of Jungle Boogie that has an ending that you wouldn’t expect.

    * A little while ago, we featured Rob Cantor’s Actual Cannibal Shia Lebouf and now we have an even nerdier cover, including with all the bad dancing. I present “Shonen Jump!” Even better if you follow the video to YouTube, you’ll find that Rob Cantor actually stopped by and gave his approval to the cover spoof!

    * Just in time for the latest reboot (which appears to be a stinker) Honest Trailers is back with the Honest Fantastic Four Trailer.

    * This applies to nothing but totally made me howl in laughter. Here’s Nissin’s Sailor Cup Noodle. Just watch it and make sure you watch the second part.

  • My Geek Confessions #162 – 07/31/2015

Welcome to our episode for July 31, 2015!
This week we review before it’s release The Man from U.N.C.L.E., talk about the potential loss of the “Happy Birthday” copyright, Key & Peele ending after this season, and no goatee for Stephen Amell.
Then in Talk Nerdy to Me, there’s Boruto movie release cities, Disney releasing an incomplete “Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki,”  and Funimation announces some new licenses at Otakon and much more!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

    * Sadly, the original voice of Woodhouse on Archer, George Coe (among many other roles), passed away this last week. To honor him in only a way that Archer can, FX released this highlight reel of some Woodhouse’s appearances.

    * Here’s another trailer for the strange LEGO Dimensions video game that will be a mega mashup of MANY different franchises including the LEGO movie, Back to the Future, Doctor Who, Batman and many others as various dimensions collide and the various heroes must fight to stop it before nothing is left. Really because of this being LEGO and with the humor, we’re really excited for how this turns out.

    * The guys over at Cinefix have come back again with another “Sweded” low budget shot-for-shot remake of one of the Ant-Man trailers, that we have to admit is pretty good. From how they handle all the shrinking and re-enlarging to varying some of the strange shots and still making it look silly, it’s definitely one to check out.

    * Sadly we don’t have a release date here in the United States on this film, but it already is the biggest movie ever in China. It’s called Monster Hunt and it looks to be a fun mix of comedy, monsters, martial arts, and much more. The trailer is already subtitled so check it out. When we hear that it’s getting an US release, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.

    * We knew that the next Tremors was on its way and being filmed in South Africa, but finally the trailer is here for Tremors 5 with Burt (really the best one of the franchise anyway) back to fight the graboids.

    * We talked about the upcoming Gakuen Handsome anime that is on its way, but we didn’t include the trailer here because of the lack of subtitles. Well this week we have the entire opening for Gakuen Handsome: The Animation and while it’s not subtitled, it really doesn’t have to be. Just sit back and enjoy the crazy and the SUPER pointy chins.

    * The guys over at Screen Junkies are back again with a couple new Honest Trailers. The first is for ALL the Mission Impossible movies, which I didn’t realize were basically the same plot and had the same use of Scooby-Doo type masks and various shots of Tom Cruise running long distances. The second Honest trailer is one we have mixed feelings about, because honestly we both enjoy the Super Mario Bros. movie as a bad over the top B movie.

  • My Geek Confessions #161 – 07/24/2015

Welcome to our episode for July 24, 2015!
It’s a very short week as we’re in the post SDCC lull but we’ve still got everything covered. We review Marvel’s Ant-Man, there are tons of trailers of some big blockbusters, Paul Rudd continues to troll Conan o’Brian in the best way possible, we have the first 6 minutes of Disney Channel’s Descendants and much more.
In Talk Nerdy to Me, a subtitled Attack on Titan movie trailer, Dinosaurs with high heels, and Sentai Filmworks dubbing DRAMAtical Murder.
It’s a video heavy episode, so we apologize in advance.

    * It’s a big week for trailer with three big ones out. So here’s the trailers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, James Bond in Spectre, and Pixar’s Good Dinosaur. Let us know which trailers you like best in the comments.

    * Check out this great segment from The Late Late Show with James Corden, where James Corden recreates the the 1989 music video of “Opposites Attract” with Paula Abdul herself.

    * The Disney Channel teased the first 6 minutes of Descendants with a magic tablets, modern settings, and bad lip syncing. We may end up live blogging watching this thing just because it sounds like it might end up Disney Channel’s Sharknado. Let us know if you think we should.

    * Someone made a very excellent mashup between Star Wars and Mad Max: Fury Road that frankly would have made both movies better.

    * We finally have a subtitled version of the live action Attack on Titan trailer, and it’s definitely worth a watch. If you thought Attack on Titan was creepy before, check out these live action titans.

    * A little bit ago, we featured a clip of how Paul Rudd has featured the same clip from 1988’s Mac & Me on his every appearance on Conan o’Brian’s various shows. We worried with Ant-Man, he wouldn’t be allowed to continue the joke because of Disney and Marvel. How wrong we were. They even made it better. Make sure you give this one a watch.

    * The folks over at XVP Comedy came up with the perfect rebuttal to Claire’s use of high heels in Jurassic World. They have come out with the Jurassic Park: High Heel edition, putting high heels ON EVERYTHING. There is some really great editing on this one and definitely hilarious!

  • My Geek Confessions #160 – San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Special!

Welcome to our episode for July 17, 2015 and our San Diego Comic-Con 2015 special!
This week we have our big San Diego Comic-Con 2015 roundup with plenty of trailers, links, and news, plus some extras including the Pluto flyby by New Horizons, Emmy nominations, and much more. Obviously this week is a bit video heavy and full of news that could have made the entire episode Talk Nerdy to Me. Let us know what you think down in the comments or if we missed anything!

    * During SDCC, WB and DC premiered a new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer and then released it online. Shortly thereafter, they also premiered the trailer for Suicide Squad, though that was intended to be a SDCC exclusive. It was leaked and swarmed the internet, and while WB tried to force the videos to be taken down, they ultimately gave up and released the trailer online. But instead of trying to be cool about it (ala Marvel and saying “Dammit Hydra”) the head of WB berated the con goers and the intended audience and saying how it was meant to be an exclusive, which robbed any positive PR around it’s release. Admittedly, we feel that limiting a lot of these trailers to just SDCC goers is misguided anyway as only 130,000 are able to attend and far less than that are capable of getting into Hall H (around 6,000 people) and should be made more easily available once SDCC is over. But in this case it may not matter, as both the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer and Suicide Squad trailer seemed rather unimpressive. Let us know in the comments what you think.

    * One trailer that we are really excited about is for Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz. It’s going to premiere on Halloween later this year. But this totally seem like this continues a lot of the humor and horror that the Evil Dead movies had. Plus it has Lucy Lawless in it as well which just makes it better!

    * AMC premiered a trailer for Fear the Walking Dead which premieres August 23 on AMC. This is a Walking Dead spinoff series that shows the world as the zombies start to rise.

    * We reported a few weeks ago that the Tonight Show had to cancel one of his episodes before he took a break because of a terrible finger injury. Now that he’s back, Jimmy Fallon explains his finger injury, a Ring Avulsion. It sounds absolutely terrible and lucky that he actually still has his finger! Be careful of those rings everyone!

    * Neil deGrasse Tyson and Stephen Colbert geek out about the New Horizons flyby Pluto.

    * It’s been awhile since we featured Epic Rap Battles of History, but this one is pretty epic as it has Eastern Philosophers vs Western Philosophers competing against each other while also still espousing all their different philosophies.

    * We’ve been fans of 50% Off for a while now, so we were excited to hear that Octopimp and Sparky made it into the Free! Eternal Summer dub even as minor characters. Way to go guys!

    * We have a link below for the epic DubSmash Wars between Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD but here are some of our favorites that we wanted to feature.

  • My Geek Confessions #159 – 07/10/2015

Welcome to our episode for July 10, 2015!
We’re back after a couple of weeks since we were gone for the July 4th holiday. We review Terminator: Genysis, plus cover a bunch of movie and TV news before San Diego Comic-Con. Plus we have a big roundup for Anime Expo 2015!

“My Geek Confessions – Watching Bad Movies, So You Don’t Have To!”

    * After the video of the Goosebumps panel leaked last San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve been excited for the Goosebumps movie and now we finally have a trailer! It looks just as self-aware and referential as we were hoping.

    * We were wrong on what Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp when we originally reported it was going to be a sequel to the movie. It’s in fact a prequel series and has all the original actors playing younger versions of themselves even though they are much younger. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp premieres on NetFlix on July 31, 2015

    * Now that the Donald Trump has run for President and had NBC revoke his series, the Simpsons has turned their sights on Donald Trump’s terrible hair.

    * In a mashup that no one really wanted (except Cori), someone mashed up the Wizard of Oz with Avengers: Age of Ultron and made it worse/better. Especially as it changes the Tin Man into Ultron and all the rest of the Avengers into Wizard of Oz characters trying to stop him. This is what happens when he doesn’t get a heart! Or he does get one…

    * Conan o’Brien was scheduled to host some episodes while at SDCC, and to take the trip, they did it in style. Conan cosplays as the Doof Warrior and Andy Richter as Immortan Joe on a giant Semi to travel down to San Diego for the convention. Definitely take a look.

    * Since the Kickstarter for the Con Man series with Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion was more than fully funded, they premiered and whole new trailer for the series that only serves to make us more interested in the series. Can you believe that some TV networks actually passed on this? (Actually yes we can.)

    * The Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers anime has finally been dubbed….and is airing on Disney XD Malaysia instead of the United States. Interestingly enough it does share some of the voice cast for Avengers Assemble and many other LA based voice actors even though it’s not airing here, which is a bit of a disappointment.

    * The guys from HISHE are back again with How Jurassic World Should Have Ended, which serves as a pretty accurate reflection of our review for Jurassic World.

    * There’s a Back to the Future Comic series on the way (There’s a link below with more info here)

We review Pixar’s Inside Out and Kung Fury, sadly report on the deaths of several people in Hollywood, new Spider-Man finally being cast, the Simpsons respond to divorce rumors, and Hannibal is canceled after season three. Then in Talk Nerdy to Me, Marvel unveils some plans for comics after Secret Wars, Twerking is older than we thought, and Funimation expands their distribution.

    * There’s two new Honest Trailers this week! First is the Honest Trailer for Toy Story with an appearance by Will Sasso in a great Randy Newman impression. The second is an Honest Trailer for Terminator 2: Judgement Day, right before the release of Terminator: Genisys.

    * After all the hype about Marge and Homer getting a divorce on the upcoming season of the Simpsons, they fired back at CNN to show how CNN got it wrong and the rest of the media ran with it without verifying.

    * If Kung Fury didn’t leave you satisfied for over the top 80s action comedy violence, just out the trailer for the Sundance film Turbo Kid that’s coming to theaters soon.

This week we review Jurassic World, have new trailers for Secret Lives of Pets, Kingdom Hearts 3, the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and more. Plus there are new series headed to Netflix, The Terminator giving you directions, and lots of dubs premiering at Anime Expo in a few weeks!

    * Though it’s short clip and we thought there was more, here’s Jimmy Fallon’s cameo on Jurassic World as the Gyrosphere safety video guide.

    * Screen Junkies (makers of Honest Trailers) made a Father’s Day tribute to Jerry Maguire with the all-grown-up Jonathan Lipnicki, showing just how much of a terrible dad (person) Jerry Maguire really was.

    * We’ve got two new trailers for you this week with a new trailer for The Peanuts Movie that looks a little better than the teaser trailer. Second is a trailer for The Secret Life of Pets from the same studio as Despicable Me and Minons.

    * Omaze is doing another fundraiser with celebrity help again, much like they did with Robert Downey Jr. and Age of Ultron. This time they’ve teamed up with Arnold Schwarzenegger to promote Terminator: Genisys in association with After-School All-Stars. He went undercover in downtown Hollywood as the Terminator near the Chinese Theater and even pretended to be wax in Madame Tussaud’s wax museum. You can enter to win a chance see the premiere and help out the charity by going to Omaze.com/Terminator.

    * The guys at How It Should Have Ended have been busy this week, with two different videos. First up is another partnership with OnlyLeigh and sequel to the 5-stages of watching a Marvel movie with 5-stages of watching a Pixar movie. Then it’s How Avengers: Age of Ultron Should Have Ended Part 2! The best part though is that a real life Villain Pub is coming to San Diego Comic-Con in July if you’re lucky enough to attend.

    * There was a ton of announcements at E3 this year, which Krista is going to cover, but there are a few announcements that we wanted to cover because they were big enough that everybody was talking about them. First is the huge news is Final Fantasy VII is getting a complete remake, not just a remaster and with the trailer it already looks AMAZING. And speaking of amazing, we got a gameplay trailer of Kingdom Hearts 3 with some additional scenes with some new characters! I’m really excited for KH3 and those weird Disneyland summons look amazing.

    * When Jurassic World beat the Avengers in the largest opening weekend, Kevin Feige of Marvel Entertainment made this great tweet congratulating Chris Pratt. We’re a little concerned that the T-Rex is worthy of the power of Thor but otherwise it’s a great way to say congratulations.

    Congrats Mr. Spielberg @UniversalPics @Legendary @LeDoctor @colintrevorrow and especially @prattprattpratt pic.twitter.com/5DxlDM8pgK

  • My Geek Confessions #156 – 06/12/2015

Welcome to our episode for June 12, 2015!
It’s a big week of catch up from A-Kon 26! We review San Andreas and Spy, tons of movie trailers, casting news for the upcoming female Ghostbusters, discuss the passing of Christopher Lee, Homer and Marge not getting a divorce, new dub casts that were announced at A-Kon by Funimation AND Aniplex, and much more!

    * While this doesn’t look like it, this is actually a trailer for the movie The Martian. Instead it’s setup as a promo video for the Ares 3 flight to Mars.

    * There’s isn’t much to this teaser trailer for Zootopia other than it introduces the random concept of what Zootopia is and that it’s a world without humans.

    * It’s rare to have two different animated teaser trailers at the same time like this, even though it is Pixar vs Disney, but this time we have both Disney Animation with Zootopia and this one, one for The Good Dinosaur by Pixar at near the same time.

    * Because this has been making the rounds, we present the trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, even though we aren’t as jazzed on how this part of the book turned out.

    * Here’s a brand new trailer for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation that I think actually is worse than the first one but I’ll include anyway.

    * While we were gone there was some big happening with FIFA and John Oliver begging for the sponsors of FIFA to take out President Sepp Blatter. Well Sepp Blatter did announce his resignation and John Oliver followed through with his previous promises when he begged the sponsors, so watch John Oliver struggle to complete it.

    * Here’s the promo for Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (that’s the actual title) where Sharknado ends up hitting Washington D.C.

    * Because everyone has been freaking out about it, and the last games have been fun, here’s the trailer for Fallout 4.

    * Probably one of the biggest highlights of the week, the folks at HISHE came up with a great idea for how the Avengers: Age of Ultron should have ended. They say this is part one but honestly I’m not sure how this can continue unless Superman can successfully turn back time.

    * Lastly there’s Jurassic Cookie, a fantastic Sesame Street Cookie Monster parody of Jurassic Park, complete with being attacked in the kitchen scene.

  • My Geek Confessions #155 – Accidental A-Kon Attack on Titan Special

    We’ve returned from A-Kon 26 in Dallas!
While we didn’t get as many interviews as we thought we would have, we were able to get a few big interviews of people we’ve never had the opportunity to meet with before and hopefully be able to make contacts to interview even more before our next convention. Stay tuned for Krista’s review of A-Kon 26 and we’ll be back with a regular episode later this week!
So it just so happens that our two interviews are two of the leads of Attack on Titan! Don’t worry, we’re not forgetting about you Armin, your voice actor just wasn’t at the convention.

    Bryce Papenbrook
Bryce Papenbrook was our first guest at A-Kon 26 and we were very happy to have him on the podcast. Bryce has had many notable anime roles over the years such as Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan, Kirito from Sword Art Online I and II (aka SAO), Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist, Staz from Blood Lad, Masaomi Kida in Durarara!! (and its sequels) plus much more. In the video game world Bryce has played Nagito Komaeda and Makoto Naegi in the Danganronpa games, Zidane Tribal in the Dissidia Final Fantasy games, Asbel Lhant in Tales of Graces, and recently Machina Kunagiri in Final Fantasy Type-0. You can see more of his credits at IMDB, Behind the Voice Actors, and Wikipedia. Not only is he involved in all these things, but he’s an accomplished martial artists, having a 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do as well as experience in a few other styles. So just remember next time you hear your favorite character react in games, he knows it for real. Before the interview we discover that the best place to work out at a convention is the hotel gym during a con.
*Note: I’ve left a little B-roll at the beginning of the interview as we found out that Mike McFarland knows all the best places to eat in Dallas, and Ian Sinclair smokes cinnamon rolls and it sounds amazing.
You can follow Bryce Papenbrook on his twitter, his Facebook, and check out his official site.

    * Amy Schumer had some amazing skits this week that we wanted to highlight. First off, is this Cosmos parody with Bill Nye and showing us that the Universe is not just some source of fate for white women in their 20s. Second is a skit about the Trial of Bill Cosby in the Court of Public Opinion.

    * The guys over at Screen Junkies are at it again with two new Honest Trailers. The first is for Armageddon and the second is for Jupiter Ascending where they don’t even make fun of it, they just straight up tell the plot.

    * Bad Lip Reading is back with Redneck Avengers: Tulsa Nights, that might work just a little bit too well. I just wish they had put this out a few weeks earlier.

    * Just announced along with the dates for the English theatrical debut of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, Funimation released the first English teaser trailer for the film.

    * We’ve been talking about this for a long time but it’s now finally made it’s debut – Kung Fury THE MOVIE. Make sure that you give it a watch, it’s excellent!
