Nancy Cuzman, R.N., a 26-year veteran, lost her job at Tucson Medical Center because she decided the risks of the COVID-19 vaccine outweighed the benefits. As a 26-year veteran, Cuzman is not against vaccines, but she feels there are too many uncertainties about safety and effectiveness.
The hospital system gave employees an ultimatum: get the shot by September 1 or be considered “resigned.” Cuzman wrote a detailed letter asking for an exemption to no avail. She said it will be difficult to find a replacement job because most health care providers require the COVID-19 shots. She believes her former employer will fight her claim for unemployment benefits. The hospital system did not respond to an email request for answers.
