  • China numbers boosts risk appetite, but will it last?
    Monday 15th April 2019
Last week finished on a positive note, sparked by a strong bounce back in credit growth in China, together with very strong export numbers. It saw money flow from the safe-haven of the US dollar and treasuries, to global equities. The Aussie dollar was another major beneficiary. Phil Dobbie asks NAB’s Rodrigo Catril whether the numbers significant enough to carry the risk-on sentiment through to this week?

  • Caution ahead of a busy day
    Wednesday 10th April 2019
The markets rarely react too much to forecasts from the IMF, so why this time, if indeed they have? That’s a question Phil Dobbie puts to NAB’s Rodrigo Catril in todays Morning Call podcast, who suggests it’s more a reaction to a busy 24 hours for data and news. There’s certainly a more cautious mood today, ahead of the ECB meeting, the minutes of the last FOMC meeting and a slew of US and UK data. They also discuss the latest on Brexit, including the EU summit, and what we can take out from yesterday’s home loan data in Australia.
