  • The Weeds Will Grow

    What is self- governance?

Mark Herr, at Center for Self Governance, has been on a journey for the past 15 years learning what it means to be self-governed. Why it’s so important for people to understand how to self-govern; what the different types of self-governance are; and how we can keep individual thoughts and beliefs while still working together as one country.

Mark’s studies have brought him to discover there are 4 different types of "self" views:

    * The original patchwork of colonies: a belief in a higher power that influenced the making of our country.

    * No belief in a higher power.

    * Humans are the highest power.

    * Every living organism has a soul/conscience.

So how do these different views affect our day-to-day life? Is it possible for all these views to coexist? Is one view better than the others?

Thanks for reading Nadine@9’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.

Perhaps these thoughts and ideas are nothing new to you but for me (and I would guess for others as well) many of these ideas were very foreign and, to be blunt, crazy! How could someone honestly believe that a body of water should have the same rights as a human being??

Then again, since we live in a world where most value is often determined by what each person decides and not by the Truth, should I really be shocked by these “crazy” ideas?

For many of us in “fly-over” states it’s easy to think what happens on the coasts won’t hit us here. But that thinking is very dangerous and detrimental to the way of life many of us cherish.

Talking with Mark I’m reminded once again that without Christ and His Word guiding our daily lives our nation will continue to fall apart. As John Adams so wisely said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”

I hope you will take some time to hear Mark’s heart and passion. And then I’d love to hear from you! What do you think about his 4 views of self-governance?

You can contact Mark at the Center For Self Governance on their website, Facebook, X, Youtube, and all the others!

If you’d like to read more about the case we discussed regarding King Ranch in Coulee City, WA you can find a link to the story here.

Mark also references Rep. Mazzie Christensen’s legislation which you can read here.

  • Unmasking HIPAA

I always look forward to getting to interview Twila Brase, founder of the Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom, her knowledge and passion are inspiring and so helpful in knowing how to navigate these every day issues we all face.

Thanks for reading Nadine@9’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.

Twila takes the time to uncover the real story behind HIPAA—where it came from, why it was written, and what it actually allows.

    * How HIPAA originated and the political push that shaped it”Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996””HIPAA Privacy Rule 2003”

    * Why the most “common misconceptions” are not misconceptions at all, but deliberate deception

    “20 HIPAA Harms”

    * What HIPAA truly permits when it comes to sharing your medical information

    * Why understanding this law is essential to protecting health freedom today

    * What your rights are

    * Tools/Resources to help you feel better equipped

    * Helpful Handouts

If you’ve ever been told “HIPAA won’t allow that,” this conversation will challenge everything you thought you knew and empower you with the truth.

Earlier this year I did an interview with Twila regarding RealID, it is a must-listen! You can find that episode here:

  • Fighting for your rights whether you like it or not!

Ike Skelton takes his role as Presiding Commissioner very seriously.

So seriously, in fact, he faced 2 felony counts and 1 misdemeanor because he chose to enforce the ordinance Camden County had passed n December of 2024.

What was so serious that it would cause Commissioner Skelton to risk so much?

Flock Cameras. (This is the website that a caller mentioned you can go to and report the location of the cameras)

I’m sure you’ve heard of them. Or at least seen them. They’re those little black boxes (oftentimes with a small solar panel attached) that have been popping up all over the country for the past few years. But don’t worry; they’re there to protect us and they would NEVER be misused *heavy sarcasm*.

Ike is one of the few political servants who takes his role in serving the people of his country so seriously that he was willing to face these erroneous charges because as he says, “I’m going to fight to protect your rights whether you like it or not!”

What are you willing to fight against? What mountain will you die on?

I hope more of us will have courage like Ike did and does. And that we will always remember; God put us in this country for a reason and we are to be good stewards of all He’s given us. Let us not be so short-sighted we forget to be good stewards for future generations as well!

Ike and I go into more detail about Flock cameras in a previous episode. You can listen to it here:

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. -Romans 15:3

  • Honoring Veterans

In Exodus 10:2 and Joshua 4:6-7, God gives important instructions to His people about passing on stories. I believe this is just as true for us today as it was for the Israelites thousands of years ago. History is lost when we stay silent.

I hope you will be encouraged by this episode to be courageous and share your stories with the next generation.

Thank you. Thank you to those who’ve served. Thank you to the families who sacrifice “normal” life while their loved ones serve. We need you and are grateful for you!

Tell the stories. Keep history alive.

  • Set Free: Ben’s Story of Redemption and Purpose

“And they have conquered him [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11a

Thanks for reading Nadine@9’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.

When I asked Ben if he would like to come on the show and share his testimony, he responded so quickly I honestly wasn’t sure if he was serious! Most of the time people need at least a few minutes to think about coming on radio/podcast and sharing their personal life with complete strangers. But Ben didn’t even hesitate! And as you will hear, it’s because he knows that his life is a testament to what God has done in him, not a story of what’s happened to “Ben”.

So often, I think many of us shy away from sharing our story because it doesn’t seem “that bad”. But as I share in my “Before the Last Petal Falls” episode, the truth is; I was headed for hell and now I’m not! And I don’t ever want to get used to how amazing and beautiful that is. Nor do I ever want to see it as something not great enough to share or celebrate! So, for anyone who has been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, SHOUT your testimony!

And the other amazing Truth is…anyone is able to receive eternal life! “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10

If you are unsure who you are, where you’re headed, or maybe what you’re living for, please get in touch with me. I’d love to hear your story and tell you about the King who already knows you and loves you!

If you would like to get in touch with Ben you can find him at Boercker Marine or on his personal FB page.

  • From Sports to the Statehouse

This week’s episode dives into the story behind the headlines as chat with State Representative Jeff Vernetti (District 123), whose path to politics started long before the Capitol — behind a microphone. After winning a local contest that earned him his dream job hosting a Saturday afternoon sports show, he spent years calling games and connecting with listeners across the community.

As a side note; I always love seeing how God uses all different experiences in our lives to prepare us for later callings!

From there, we unpack his journey as a small business owner, exploring what it’s like to balance the demands of entrepreneurship with the realities of policymaking. He shares honest reflections on his first year in the legislature—what’s surprised him, what he’s learned, and what he’d like to see done better.

We briefly discuss Proposition A, the statute that mandated private businesses to raise minimum wage and offer paid sick leave (I’m paraphrasing. For the full text click here), HB567, and the new “Prop A” you need to be on high alert for.

In a culture that often measures worth by success, status, or public approval, it’s crucial to remember where true value comes from. When we forget that, we end up chasing affirmation in the wrong places. Only the One who made us can truly determine our value. And in His eyes, “you are beautifully and wonderfully made!”

You can find Rep. Vernetti on Facebook or his website.

  • Locke & Smith Foundation

Tom Martz and his band of hard-nosed thugs have the nerve to grade our legislators and the laws they passed based off the Missouri Constitution! What right do they have to hold our elected officials accountable?! It’s not like the laws they pass govern us!

Hopefully you can hear the sarcasm spewing out…

It’s always still shocking to me when I realize just how many legislators couldn’t care less about legislating according to the constitution. Thankfully, I have not gotten used to this disgusting behavior.

Thanks for reading Nadine@9’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.

Legiscore is a very helpful, black and white resource that grades solely on the constitutionality of legislation. While their findings continue to disgust me (since it seems even with a republican majority we can’t seem to legislate according to the constitution) I am grateful for the VERY few who do seem to be taking their oath seriously. But we need many more!

  • What should a cloud look like?

Wow! I knew this interview was going to be very informative but what I didn’t know was how much I was going to enjoy getting to know Michael Hogan and Kaley Head, founders of MO Clean Skies.

If you’re a seasoned listener of my show, you know that I am very passionate but I also really enjoy finding others who seem to have a deep passion for whatever area God has called them to!Michael and Kaley not only have that passion but they know who gave them the passion and who sustains them. Something I also greatly enjoy finding in others.

There’s a lot of information discussed in this episode so I will do my best to include as many links to websites as I can but make sure you reach out to Michael and/or Kaley either through social media (FB, X, YouTube or IG) or their website if you have questions that weren’t answered on the show.

And don’t forget the tangible things you can do right now:1. Sign the petition2. Contact your State Legislators: call or send a pre-scripted letter *as a side not; I’ve heard multiple times over the past few years that legislators often only pay attention to actual phone calls, so I would highly recommend calling. If you need help knowing what to say, I’m sure the team at MO Clean Skies would be more than willing to help you!
