If we could only hold three funds in our portfolio, which would they be? For starters, we'd look for passive funds, since 95% of active managers can't outperform a benchmark over the long term. Next, we'd look for funds with the lowest expense ratios, since that's the strongest indicator of outperformance according to Morningstar. Finally, we'd decide on our allocation.
