  • What ARK's Trade Alerts Really Mean

ARK Invest trade alerts are often posted on social media as some proof of a bull or bear thesis. They're neither without providing context behind ARK's trades. First, we need to aggregate all of ARK's trade alerts across all their ETFs since there's a great deal of overlap across their positions. The biggest ARK ETF - the ARK Innovation ETF or ARKK - is bigger than all the other five active ETFs combined. That's a good place to start. After aggregating the trades, you can then express them as a percentage of total assets under management (AUM), the percentage for a particular ETF, or (as we prefer) as a percentage of their original position. In this way, we can put ARK's trades into context so they actually mean something. You'll never look at ARK trade alerts the same way after watching this video our crack team of MBAs spent the better half of two evenings putting together when they could have been out somewhere drinking down some bowls of loudmouth soup.

  • Buy One of the Best REITs at a Discount

Realty Income is hitting new lows on news of their Spirit Realty acquisition. We start by looking at why this REIT is different from all other contenders in its category - net lease REITs. Realty Income has been managed exceptionally well such that their monthly dividend has increased every quarter for 104 quarters in a row. That track record is only possible through financial discipline, and over the past decade they've managed to push their payout ratio to 75% which provides plenty of buffer for future dividend increases. As for the Spirit Realty acquisition, the two companies have surprisingly complementary portfolios which overlap across the board. Now you can buy it with a 5.7% yield and then start that dividend snowball compounding. There are concerns that the company's size post-acquisition will make growth more difficult to come by, but they'll also enjoy better access to debt. We've been holding O stock for close to two decades and believe it's one of the best REITs out there to own.

  • Unpacking a Thai Investor's Portfolio

We unpack a 32 year old Thai investor's portfolio starting with a holistic look at his asset classes. About half of his exposure is to Thai stocks, something he feels comfortable with given his finance background and local knowledge. Despite that, we see some domestic bias risk from having so much exposure to a single country that's a very small component of MSCI ACWI. In looking at the funds in his portfolio, there are lots of them. Two of the top five by weighting are Baillie Gifford funds which look very solid. He may well want to reduce the total number of funds to make this more manageable. We also evaluate his tech stock portfolio which is quite well put together. Overall, this young investor has a bright future ahead of him with another three decades for all these assets to mature.

  • Cannabis Investor? Here's What You Should Know

Cannabis investors haven't been treated well as cannabis stocks trade at all-time low valuations. That's not a bad thing if you're looking to invest in a theme that's on the cusp of realizing its true potential when legalization finally happens. But it won't be one sudden event. The most progress being made right now is a proposal to reclassify cannabis from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule III drug. Let's just forget how absolutely mental the drug schedules are. If this happens, it means cannabis companies will be taxed on net income, not gross profits. That's currently handicapping cannabis companies along with a dozen other things because cannabis remains illegal at a Federal level. If you're a cannabis investor, or thinking about investing in weed stocks, you'll want to check out this list of 10 MSOs offered up by the cannabis investing experts over at KEY Investment Partners. If you're looking for all the latest cannabis news, this is 14 minutes you'll want to spend.

  • A Lithium Leader and Dividend Champion

This lithium stock has the best of both worlds. It's a lithium leader, if not THE leader and it has also increased its dividends for 29 years in a row. If you're looking for a good time to start dollar cost averaging into Albemarle ALB stock, there's probably no better time. After lithium prices soared to the moon hitting their highest levels ever a year ago, they've now cratered 70%. But it's not just bargains and buying dips. The rapid decline in lithium prices has destabilized the largest producers of lithium which means those companies with prudent financial controls will be best served to navigate the (everyone say it together now) the macroeconomic headwinds facing the lithium industry. With electric vehicles and their accompanying lithium-ion batteries driving the demand for lithium, an investment in Albemarle stock makes sense. Just pay attention to those gross margins which were absolutely destroyed and take some time to better understand the joint venture VIE structure setup they have that seems to be printing cash. There's never any free lunch.

  • Our thoughts on Planet 13 Holdings...

Planet 13 stock seems to have achieved all kinds of popularity, perhaps because they own the biggest cannabis dispensaries on the planet in Las Vegas. That's where domestic bias might start creeping in. Just because a company has a cool looking store you visited doesn't mean it makes for a great investment. If we're thinking about investing in cannabis stocks, we'll want to stick with the largest multi state operators in the United States. Planet 13 is one of the smallest, and their four dispensaries don't offer much diversification. Gross margins are being compressed, like many other cannabis companies, and their cash stockpile is being eroded as they continue opening up more stuff that won't necessarily help sell more cannabis. The company's strategy is questionable and there are far better names out there to invest in. We'd pass on PLNH stock in favor of the larger MSOs out there.

  • Are Nokia Investors Crazy or Genius?

Nokia had its day in the sun until one day the sun stopped shining. After losing their leadership in smartphones, they've been trying to gain leadership in segments such as mobile and network infrastructure with a dose of cloud computing for good measure. These are all being shored up by the Nokia Technology cash cow that provides a 100% gross margin - pure profits - and an operating margin of above 70%. Contrast this to the single-digit operating margins of the other segments and profitability trends that are moving in the wrong direction. Is Nokia a growth stock or a value stock? It's neither, and don't count on that dividend to stick around for too long based on its track record of jumping around all over the place. If you're looking for a proper growth stock, you're better off finding one that's actually growing. If you're looking for value, find a company with better profitability metrics and some consistency in paying out a dividend. NOK stock may be beaten down but it's not one we're interested in at any price.

  • Judging the Two Biggest Dividend ETFs

SCHD vs VIG. Which dividend ETF is best? That's the question we try to answer by looking at why these two dividend ETFs are even appropriate to compare (they're two of the largest dividend ETFs out there) and which is more suited for dividend investors who appreciate growing their income streams over time. Today's yield is of less importance when you consider the pace at which dividend distributions are growing over time. For example, SCHD has managed to grow their dividend payouts by 10% per year over the past eight years. That means your yield-on-cost starts to rise very quickly over time and the income you're getting per dollar invested starts to exceed over 7% in just eight years' time. After looking at these two big dividend ETFs, it's clear there's one that comes out ahead from where we're sitting.

  • Is It Finally Time to Buy Rocket Lab?

Rocket Lab stock is bouncing off all-time lows on the back of their recent launch failure. That's precisely when you should start thinking about investing in a company that's only showing better metrics as time goes on. Revenue growth of nearly 20% of targeted for this year while gross margins (excluding stock-based compensation) are flirting with 30%. Now that's still "low" compared to what we're used to, and we need to consider the giant South-African gorilla in the room - SpaceX - though vendors always prefer to not be in a sole-source provider situation. We like what Rocket Lab has been doing but aren't sure loving the company makes sense when you consider just how risky the entire space theme is. Where we might get really tempted to add some space exposure would be if Starlink had an IPO. Nonetheless, we were pleasantly surprised to see that RKLB stock is currently sitting at a reasonable valuation while the company seems to be making great progress. You just better hope there are no more "anomalies" or that may be indicative of problems that extend beyond the black swan this last event is being blamed on. Swans and gorillas, aren't space stocks fun times?

NTLA Stock is one of the biggest gene editing stocks by market cap and the one likely to have the first in vivo gene editing therapy approved and marketed. That statement doesn't tell you squat about what you need to pay attention to as an investor. For any gene editing stock, you need to be focused on how close they are to bringing a lead candidate to market. That does two things. It proves the viability of their platform and it starts filling their coffers with cash. For Intellia, their lead candidate is going into a pivotal Phase 3 trial. Investors in Intellia stock need to hope there's no bad news because everything's been working well so far. If you're invested in $NTLA stock, you better watch this video otherwise the world's going to end. Is that convincing enough? And why are you reading this anyway? It's only meant to appease those dirty little AI algorithms that don't surface our videos because we don't run ads. (Kicks rocks.)
