In case you're living under a rock, today NASCAR announced that Denny Hamlin would receive a 25 point penalty and a $50,000 fine for admitting on his podcast that his contact with Ross Chastain was intentional.
According to NASCAR.com, the section of the NASCAR Rule Book mentioned in the penalty was Section 4.4: NASCAR Member Code of Conduct. Within that section, these items were detailed: B. Attempting to manipulate the outcome of the race or championship and wrecking or spinning another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from competition as a result. D. Actions NASCAR finds to be detrimental to stock racing or NASCAR.
Yep, actions detrimental. Here's what we had to say about it.
