• In this section, we discuss how apple-based materials are made, highlighting the Sozai Centre + Adam fabrics. We go through everything from collection and pulverization to sheet processing and discuss the complex view of using synthetic polymers versus natural materials to create innovative material solutions.

Coffee-based Fabrics: <11:40 - 21:42>

• In this section, we discuss how coffee-based technical composite fibers are made, specifically how the SCafe material is created. We explain how it works, what these terms mean, and break down the processing methods to make them digestible and easy to understand.

After a neary-exact two year slumber, the podcast has been finally revived to help you envision what fashion could look like if we change our habits from the inside out, both as consumers and businesses alike.

In today’s episode, we’re discussing some incredible fibers from nature. This will be a two-part series as there are a total of four materials we’ll be covering, these being Mycellium, Apples, Coffee and the Lotus Flower. While all of these materials come from nature, the way in which they arrive at the place of fashion are varied, some get there with the help of modern techology and science, while others require percise craftmenship that has been passed on through generations. In this episode, I discuss the power of positivity in igniting action and real behavioural change. Like, you know how we're more likely to adopt a new habit in our lives if it offers a positive solution or makes our lives easier? As humans, we're psychologically wired to want positive incentives to do positive things. And solely focusing on the negative can (in some cases) actually be counterproductive to activism and can result in fear, despair and a sense of hopelessness in our communities. So how do we address talking about the real issues in fashion while also inspiring a positive response? My theory is that by approaching the issues and problems in fashion from an educational perspective, but inspiring action from a place of positivity, excitement and joy, we might be able to create a world or industry that thrives on change. Not one that views change as a tedious task that "has to be done" in order to be considered good people.
