Needs Some Introduction episodes

  • E48: Succession S3 E2 - Mass in Time of War
I catch up on with Sona in regards to the Only Murders in the Building finale and we discuss last week's premier of Succession. Then I discuss the latest episode. The family is all finally back in NYC and war is coming.

  • E47: Succession Season 3 PREMIERE - PLUS - Only Murders in the Building Season FINALE!
We say goodbye to our friends at the Arconia and say hello again to the Roy family. I am not fully on board with the finale of our murder mystery comedy. I think I set my expectations too high. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to another season.
As for the Roys, things are as chaotic and toxic as ever. Greg is hilarious as ever.
I also do a quick refresher on Succession up until now. I am definitely looking forward to the new season.

  • E46: Halloween Kills - PLUS - The WHOLE crazy Halloween franchise review
Halloween Kills at the box office but this is a very disappointing episode. It's all middle and a whole lot more of what we expected (plus a whole lot we didn't need). Can they turn this around with the final movie, next year. It doesn't matter, I'm sure. There will be plenty more attempts to revamp and restart this franchise again.

  • E45: Only Murders in the Building - E9 - PLUS - What Happened to Dexter and can it be saved
I am flying solo for this episode (at least for now). I cover the latest episode of Only Murders. We meet Charles' surprising body double/stuntperson. I am not a huge fan of this one but it does a lot of table setting.
Plus, I go through the (8!!) seasons of the Showtime series Dexter. What the heck were they thinking (especially that finale). They are trying a reboot (and very soon). Can they salvage the series? For better or worse, I am still going to watch.

  • E44: Candyman and Lovecraft Country - Horror Corner
While we await Jordan Peele's next directorial outing, NOPE! (that's actually what it's called), he has been busy helping other filmmakers get their projects off the ground. I discuss the new Candyman (remake? sequel? legacyquel?) and the ambitious but messy Lovecraft Country.

  • E43: Only Murders in the Building - Episode 7 and 8
We published late this week, which means we get to review the piping hot new pizza roll that is episode 8. These are two excellent episodes and the season looks to be finishing strong.
The Boy from 6B is all about Theo, Teddy's son. And we find out that he is central to the entire mystery. The episode is executed without any spoken dialog which is impressive in and of itself.
Fan Fiction introduces some new die-hard fans of the podcast that end up being surprisingly helpful to our amateur investigators.
    It's all great fun.

  • E41: Only Murders in the Building - Episode 6 - Nine Perfect Strangers - Episode 8 - Ever After - PLUS - Emmy Award Thoughts
We have (thankfully) made it to the end of this season of Nine Perfect Strangers. Sona is more generous about it than I am. I do appreciate a few moments, here and there. I feel a lot more positive about Only Murders in the Building but I do feel there is a serious tonal misstep which I hope doesn't impact upcoming episodes.
Plus we have a few thoughts about the Emmy awards (mostly how irrelevant they have become).

  • E42: Squid Game and Midnight Mass - Horror Corner
Netflix is having a moment with two new series, Squid Game, from South Korea, and Midnight Mass. They are both strange products that nonetheless succeed to different extents.
I will be covering other horror topics throughout the month (and probably beyond). I hope you find some scary options for your halloween viewing.

  • E40: Only Murders In the Building - Episode 5 - Nine Perfect Strangers - Episode 7 - The Wheels on the Bus - PLUS - Reservation Dogs

Nine Perfect Strangers has derailed. I can't imagine there is going to be a satisfying conclusion, at this point. How bad did it get? Listen and let me count the ways...

Meanwhile, Only Murders in the Building, keeps plugging along pleasantly. This episode is mostly filler but I think there is some essential clues introduced, here, along with some fun interaction.

But the real find of the week is the critically praised Reservation Dogs that turns out to be as entertaining as it's been rumored to be. I am a big fan.

All shows are available on Hulu.

  • E39: Only Murders In the Building - Episode 4 - Nine Perfect Strangers - Episode 6 - Motherload - PLUS - Malignant

Only Murders In the Building continues to entertain. Meanwhile Nine Perfect Strangers continues to frustrate but it's still worth watching for the best of the performances. There are only two episodes left so things better start tying up soon. We will see.
