Welcome to editor's pick, where we highlight three design events that take place this week.
First, we have Blend Festival in Amsterdam. Starting Thursday, November 3rd, the two-day conference where leading and innovative artist will share their vision on global trends within motion design and post-digital culture.
Second is the first edition of Blind Walls Film Fest. Starting November 5th, the two-day film festival is about murals, street art, and graffiti. Hosted by Blind Walls Gallery and Chasse Cinema in Breda.
Lastly is Melba International Symposium on Saturday, November 5th. The symposium is part of the annual design festival in Sophia. The festival mixes a, diverse perspective on design, and this one-day conference, with guests from around Europe, is the signature event of this festival.

First, we have NO/BS Conference in Melbourne, Australia. NO/BS is a roadshow-style 2-day event jam-packed with international and local talent across all walks of digital. Lastly is KIKK Festival in Namur, Belgium. For 11 years, the KIKK Festival has been seriously breaking new grants in the digital field. During four days, the KIKK Festival demonstrates all digital possibilities and their dangers. Thanks to a program of talks by leading figures in the sector, a market of innovative products, a wide range of networking activities, and a trail of interactive installations in the city center. KIKK Festival has become an unmissable event for professionals, but also for the curious and explorers of all kinds, KIKK starts October 27.

First, we have Semi Permanent Aotearoa in Wellington, New Zealand. This 3-day single-track conference on creativity starts October 19th. New Zealand's leading creative practitioners will showcase the breadth, depth, diversity, and potential of their creative industry to a global audience.
Second is Blanc! Festival in Barcelona starting October 22nd. The 3-day festival is packed with talks, masterclasses, and activities around design and professional creativity. with the focus on emerging talent and recognition of the great masters and pioneers of design in Spain.
Lastly is a Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. It's the biggest design event in northern Europe, bringing together over 1500 designers and creatives who showcase the latest in design and innovation. The week starts October 22nd with a daily program of talks, tourists, and date night parties.

Welcome to Editors picks, where we highlight three design events that take place this week.
First, we have SmashingConf in New York. SmashingConf is a 2-day single-track web design and development conference, starting October 10th. Next to the conference, there are two days of hands-on workshops where you can learn new practical skills. Can't make it to the in-person event? Online tickets are available. Second is Black Tech Fest. Starting October 11th, the three-day in-person and online experience brings together leaders, creators, and change-makers to create access and opportunity for black talent. Situated in London, during Black History Month, the festival welcomes over 5,000 professionals from across the ecosystem. With headliners like Stephen Barrett, Michelle Williams, and Patricia Bright to name a few.
Lastly, is the inaugural experimental type festival Inscript! From October 12 through 16, Inscript takes place online and explores the overlap of typography and experimental tech. Including topics like artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, creative coding, and innovative use of traditional craft. Presenters include Underware, Dia Studio, Tina Touli, and many more.

Welcome to editor's picks, where we highlight three design events that take place this week.
First, we have DEMO. On Thursday, October 6th. The second edition of the Design in Motion Festival takes place in the Dutch public space. The world’s best motion design will be on show on almost all screens in the public space in the Netherlands. In Amsterdam is an afternoon talk show. Throughout the day are guided tours in Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Amsterdam. If you can't make it to The Netherlands, Demoverse in Roblox opens its doors the same day.
Second, is Forward Festival! Forward Festival returns to Vienna on the sixth and seventh of October. Presenting nothing less than a firework of creativity. The two days are hosted by Stefan Sagmeister, introducing more than 15 speakers. With a program full of hands-on workshops, and exciting side events Forward Festival Vienna promises to be an explosion of creativity! Next to the in-person event, you can attend Forward's online experience.
Lastly is designFAO conference. This inaugural edition of designFAO brings together creative people in Faro, Portugal. On Friday, October seventh, the one-day conference host eight speakers who present deep-dive talks on brand strategy, blockchain, product design, and design leadership. The day ends with a smashing sunset party.

Welcome to editor's pick where we highlight 3 events that occur this week.
First, we have Design Matters the annual 2-day design conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Wednesday 28 Design Matters brings together the global community of digital creatives who love to explore and inspire each other to break new ground in digital design. Next to the in-person and live streams conference Design Matters offers a packed before and after program, with network events, studio visits, and guided tours.
Second is Gray Area Festival. The annual 4-day festival starts Thursday, September 29th. Gray Area is a nonprofit that applies art and technology to create social and civic impact through education, incubation, and public events. The Gray Area Festival is their chance to bring together people from around the world to experience a jam-packed slice of our year-round programming at the Grand Theater in San Fransico. One highlight is the special screening of YACHT's feature documentary, The Computer Accent, an exploration of their work with the intersection of art, technology, and human intuition.
Lastly, is the No Code Summit in Paris. Over two days you will discover that No Code now goes far beyond prototypes and MVPs. Europe’s biggest No Code event host 85 speakers, workshops, use case reviews, demos, and dozens of booths! No Code Summit starts Thursday 29 September.
Bonus:
Last Saturday, Museum Evoluon in Eindhoven opened again after 30 years, with the spectacular exhibition RetroFuture. RetroFuture is the world’s first major exhibition about the future of the past. In ten tunnels full of fiction and fact, the visions of yesterday's future thinkers can be seen, experienced, and felt. What was strange, awkward, and artificial yesterday is familiar, or even natural today. RetroFuture is curated by Next Nature and is open till 23 March 2023.

Welcome to editor's pick where we highlight 3 events that take place this week.
First, we have Primer. Primer is the annual 4-day conference created by the Design Futures Initiative, a nonprofit based in San Francisco. This year's online edition of Primer is designed to prepare you for the future. Exploring the experience of time. Primer starts Wednesday 21 September.
Second is Forward Festival in Berlin. Forward returns to Berlin and is now expanding to a two-day event! With a program full of highlights ranging from international heavyweights to local heroes of the creative industries. With more than 30 speakers on two stages, exclusive side events, workshops, and an interactive expo area, this sold-out event is going to be a blast.
The 2-day festival starts Thursday 22 September
Lastly, is Post.Design/Tangle in Olso’s Grafill house. The 2-day roaming festival comes with an inspiring workshop, an exhibition, and a symposium about graphic design and visual communication on the 23rd and 24th of September. Speakers include Laurenz Brunner, and Sophie Douala.

Which she had to postpone In 2019 because of the massive protest in her beloved city. In this episode we talk about why postponing a conference is better than canceling.
