also let’s take a moment to give dove his flowers because he had a hell of a year. first off he produced albums for damn near everybody in underground hip-hop: r.a.p. ferreira + aj suede, fatboi sharif, andrew, nosaj from new kingdom, alaska from atoms family, plus aj suede again. a lot of those came out on his vinyl-focused label fused arrow, which also reissued premrock’s 2013 tom waits tribute mark’s wild years. ALSO, dove put out a bangin solo record featuring (among others) r.a.p. ferreira, shrapknel, donwill, big baby gandhi, and mc paul barman (!). ALSO ALSO, he engineered billy woods and kenny segal’s maps, which pitchfork just named the best album of the year. ALSO ALSO ALSO, he made a song for a compilation that drew put out featuring songs in the made-up genre “golfcore.” 

::extremely infomercial voice:: BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! dove also just dropped a double cassette featuring 53 of his beats from this year. one cassette is silver and the other is gold and the case kinda looks like an old-school ipod.

we interrupt our regularly scheduled quasi-music programming for an episode about the NBA. after james harden went to China, went ballistic on his own GM in front of a bunch of teenagers, and then did some tiktok dances, we decided to call up our friend Yaron Weitzman, NBA writer for Fox Sports and author of Tanking to the Top: The Philadelphia 76ers and the Most Audacious Process in the History of Professional Sports, and have him help us understand what the hell is going on here. yaron also told us about a very funny story about the time he interviewed james harden, the particulars of being an NBA reporter, and whether he’s worried that Paul George is going to steal his job. 

we recorded this episode on monday and are very glad that nothing really huge happened with the james harden thing while we were editing it.
