A lot of agents don’t realize that behind every beneficial bill is a team of people advocating for association members and everyone who lives in this state. Every single legislative session, there are bills that would make it impossible for us to practice as REALTORS®. 

The Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Committee works hard to make sure those bills don’t pass, and upholds the bills that benefit agents and the consumer too.

Real estate gives us a level of flexibility most jobs don’t, but that can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, we can design our schedules and work when we want, but we also have families and obligations at home. 

This can lead to a lot of guilt about how we’re showing up both at home and at work. We might feel like we’re bad parents for being so driven at work, or feel like we’re slacking at work because of our home life.

Real estate isn’t just a sales job. In today’s world, the most successful agents are also the best marketers. Unfortunately, many agents are dropping the ball in their marketing, and it’s costing them deals.

Real estate might be a career with great earning potential, but the majority of agents are part-timers because they don’t earn enough from selling homes. 

We have an oversupply of real estate agents without enough business to go around. On top of that, there are hundreds of agents who aren’t competent and confident enough to succeed in this industry.

In the wake of the settlement, one thing is clear - providing value is the only way to survive and thrive in this new world of real estate. 

When agents think of the value they bring, they often list all the things they do - negotiation, being a consultant, getting the highest price for a listing and being great at their job. 

Unfortunately, these things don’t cut it anymore. If we think that’s value, we’re in deep trouble. Those are just aspects of the transaction. Any agent can do these things and in 2024, so can AI. 

When we eliminate those things from the equation, what makes us valuable? Our stories and our lived experiences. Whether we share them on social media or share them in consultations, this is what will make people want to work with us and want to compensate us.
