Real estate is a mighty industry, but even the mightiest can face a catastrophic end when they don't evolve.
NAR's CEO, Nykia Wright, saw it happen in journalism.
Now she's determined to make sure real estate doesn't follow the same path.
The market—and the industry as a whole— is going through a critical time.
We have seen massive disruption in recent years. Legal, structural, reputational, and technological changes are just a few of the forces challenging our future.
Every organization that touches real estate is rethinking its strategy and experience to meet changing member demands.
The question is: how can associations get strong enough to withstand disruption and truly future-proof themselves?
Ultimately, it's about keeping agents at the center and empowering successful transactions.
So, how is NAR evolving to meet this moment? How do we reimagine the association experience? And how can local, state, and national associations work together to move the industry forward?
In this episode, Nykia Wright shares how the Association is responding to today's challenges and what it will take to lead the industry into the future.
Coming from journalism, I've seen the catastrophic end to an industry that used to be mighty. Understanding that that can happen to any industry keeps me motivated. -Nykia Wright

Now that deadline day has passed in the Nevada Legislative Session, we're starting to see which bills made it—and which ones didn't.
Out of the bills we've been keeping an eye on, quite a few have dropped off. Technically, nothing's officially dead until the end of the session, but let's be real, some of these aren't coming back.
In this episode, we're talking about four bills that are basically done. From one that aimed to limit corporate homeownership to another proposing a statewide rental registry, these bills had good intentions. But in the end, they weren't the right fit for Nevada.
Whether it was vague language, risky implementation, or unintended consequences, these proposals could have hurt the housing market and made things harder for homeowners and property owners across the state.
We break down what these bills were all about, why they didn't move forward, and what it means for the rest of the session.
Affordability in real estate matters, but we also don't want to stagnate the marketplace. -Chris Bishop

The Nevada legislative session has reached a key milestone - the bill introduction deadline is now behind us.
That means all proposed bills should have been submitted to the Assembly or Senate by now.
However, the process isn't over yet.
The bills will now move from the Assembly to the Senate, where they may be amended, and we'll take a look at those changes once they come back.
One bill we're paying close attention to is AB 540.
This bill intends to find a solution for the supply side of real estate and encourage move-up home buying, which will free up much-needed entry-level inventory.
Ultimately, the supply issue needs to be tackled from multiple angles, and we believe this bill will make a huge difference.
What other bills are we keeping up with as an association? In this episode, current Legislative Chair Azim Jessa and past Legislative Chair Keith Lynam return. They talk through the latest updates from the 2025 session.
We always had a history of truly entry-level homes, we don't have that anymore. Without it, you can't have step-up home ownership. -Keith Lynam

We are a third of the way through the 2025 legislative session, and there are a few more key bills we're monitoring. These bills affect us as real estate professionals, but also protect consumers and support private property rights.
A really important bill that's moving through legislation is centered on secondary fire insurance and how it's affecting homeowners' insurance.
In light of the recent uptick in fires in Nevada and California, insurance companies are increasing rates or even canceling their coverage. As we know, homes can't be sold without insurance. This will affect the health of our market and people's ability to achieve and hold onto the dream of homeownership. The last thing our market and consumers need is a rash of foreclosures because homeowners' insurance has become unaffordable.
How can this issue be addressed? What other bills do we need to be aware of right now?
In this episode, Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Chair, Azim Jessa is joined by former Legislative Chair and real estate legend, Keith Lynam. In this weekly legislative recap, we put the spotlight on 4 bills that have come up in the legislative session.
Insurance companies are withdrawing, canceling and increasing rates, and it's causing an affordability issue in real estate. We certainly don't want to see a rash of foreclosures because homeowners' insurance is too expensive. -Azim Jessa

Real estate is a high-visibility, high-pressure industry that requires us to go out and create business for ourselves.
Unfortunately, the demands of the job often leave agents suffering from burnout and struggling to balance family, business and their wellbeing.
How do we break out of burnout and set and achieve our goals but in a healthier way? For better or worse, whatever our current reality is, our mindset got us here. In order to run a business that doesn't wear us down, we have to fix our mental hygiene first.
From there, we can start to set better goals - goals that won't destroy our health and compromise our families.
Ultimately, mindset is the key to success in every area of our lives.
We can have all the right real estate strategies in the world, but without mindset, we won't be able to hold onto that success long-term.
How do we get the buy-in of our families in our goals?
In this episode, we're joined by mom, wife, REALTOR® and certified Life Coach, Christal Allen-Harrahill. She shares how agents can avoid the trap of burnout and how to build a business that won't break you down later.
If we're going about strategy with a messy mindset and not paying attention to our mental hygiene, we can have all the strategies in the world, but it's not going to work. -Christal Allen-Harrahill

In the current Nevada legislative session, there are several housing and real estate related bills agents need to be aware of.
We believe some of these bills are exactly what the state needs in order to keep our housing market healthy.
Other bills, on the other hand, might do more harm than good and actually end up hurting the market and ultimately, the consumer.
From bills that deal with single family investment to rent control, what's our perspective on these bills as an association?
What are the implications of each bill? In this episode, Legislative Chair and Treasurer at Nevada REALTORS®, Azim Jessa returns to give us the latest update on the legislative session.
Rent control won't do anything to lower housing prices. It will just create a new floor and stop people from moving around which is one of the things that will lower prices. -Azim Jessa

A healthy, balanced housing market where REALTORS® are at the center of the transaction and the consumer is protected at all times. This is what Nevada REALTORS® is passionate about as an association…but those wins don't happen in a vacuum.
A lot of agents don't realize that behind every beneficial bill is a team of people advocating for association members and everyone who lives in this state. Every single legislative session, there are bills that would make it impossible for us to practice as REALTORS®.
The Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Committee works hard to make sure those bills don't pass, and upholds the bills that benefit agents and the consumer too.
For the next few months, we'll be in a legislative session, and we're going to keep you updated on the latest developments.
In this episode, we're joined by Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Chair, Azim Jessa and Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Vice-Chair, Chris Bishop. They talk about why this work matters and what they hope to achieve in this session.
We're advocating to make sure our industry stays healthy, that we stay at the center of the transaction and continue to protect private property rights for all of Nevada. -Azim Jessa
