Like every year, it had tears of joy and tears of sadness. Stars were made, and Patrick Kielty had so, so, many costume changes. Joining Anton to chat through how it all went is Melanie Finn, Entertainment Correspondent for the Irish Independent & Freelance Journalist, Niamh O’Reilly.
Anton is joined by the one and only, Jarlath Regan, to talk about his new book 'The Gobshite Guidebook: A Survival Manual', touring, and more.
Last week marked 30 years since Princess Diana sat down with Martin Bashir for a 54-minute Panorama interview that shocked the world due to the revelations that she had struggled with bulimia, how lonely and isolating royal life could be, and not to mention that famous line "there were three of us in this marriage". This coincides with the release of Dianarama, a new book by Andy Webb that explores how the interview came about and the profound consequences it had for Diana. He joins Anton to discuss.
Tuesday marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, yet this week alone, headlines have carried news of multiple attacks on women. Domestic and gender-based violence remains a pressing issue in Ireland, with the Tánaiste stating this week that “we have an epidemic of violence against women” but what do the figures show us about instances of violence, have we made progress, and what more needs to be done? To discuss, Anton is joined by:
Mary Hayes, Project Coordinator of Women’s Aid’s ‘Too Into You’ Project
Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop, Member of Grevio, the Council of Europe Human Rights Group on the Elimination of Violence Against Women and former CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre
Barry Ward, Fine Gael TD and Criminal Barrister
Joining Anton to go through the main stories from the Sunday papers is Feargal O’Rourke, Businessman, IDA Chair, and member of the government Taskforce on Infrastructure; Gary Murphy, Professor of Politics at DCU; and Labour TD, Marie Sherlock.
Writing in the Sunday Independent this morning, Irish journalist based in Tel Aviv, Paul Kearns, outlined that discussions of antisemitism in Ireland too often encounter two recurring responses - the first is minimisation, the second is a more subtle form of deflection. He joins Anton to discuss.
The Fiscal Advisory Council has warned that the Irish government is 'budgeting like there's no tomorrow.' Should their warning be heeded, and could we head for another recession? Dr. Emma Howard, Economist at TU Dublin joins Emmet Oliver to tease this question out...
Brian Burke, RTE Supergarden judge and Woodies DIY and garden expert joins Emmet Oliver for this week's Ask the Expert slot!

Many political ideas are percolating ahead of the festive season on ways to boost hospitality and the cultural sector. One such idea is from Deputy Peter 'Chap' Cleere, who is calling for a 'culture card' for those who have turned 18. He proposes that the card be loaded with €100, which can be spent in bars, pubs, clubs and the like, and he joins guest host Emmet Oliver to discuss...
