Never Offside with Julie & Cat

Caitlin Fitzgerald, Nick Suzuki's fiancé, joins (4:51) to chat about how she met Nick, what it was like moving to Montreal in 2020 and having Nick named Captain of the Canadiens. She also talks about life with two cats and how her and Nick are planning on adopting a dog. She runs through her favorite Montreal restaurants, TV shows and go-to makeup product. Plus, she provides a full break down of all the planning that's happening with her and Nick's wedding. Julie and Cat make sure to give her an invaluable piece of advice for the big day.

Julie and Cat are joined by Eric Stonestreet (7:19), best known for portraying Cameron Tucker on Modern Family. Eric is a massive Kansas City Chiefs fan and he was quite pleased with the Chiefs punching their ticket to the Super Bowl and a lot of the conversation focuses in on the Chiefs, his relationship with the players and he even spills a little Taylor Swift tea. He also is a fan of the LA Kings and explains how he became a hockey fan and talks about his friendship with Anze Kopitar, partying with the Stanley Cup and how he helped weave the Kings into an episode of Modern Family. He shares a bunch of stories, including the time Kobe Bryant visited the Modern Family set, how he played a key role in getting Cat and Tyler's relationship off the ground, how he tries to help scout players for the Chiefs and the time he got thrown out of a LA Dodgers game. Before Stonestreet, Julie recaps her trip to Las Vegas (go check out her TikTok) and after Stonestreet, they answer a few listener questions and Cat reveals a newly discovered toxic trait of Tyler.

Julie and Cat are joined by Angela Price (10:26), the wife of Carey Price, to tell stories of wife team building, the craziness of the NHL schedule and the pressure it can put on a family. Angela talks about her role during the Montreal Canadiens cup run in 2021 as a veteran wife and how, in her eyes, it's important for the team wives to bond in order to maximize the tightness of a NHL team. She shares some behind the scene stories of Carey and also discusses the best part of Carey not playing in the NHL any longer and the worst part. Plus, is there a goalie wife sorority? Angela fills everyone in on how she views other goalies and their families. Before Angela, Julie and Cat recap their trip into NY and Cat gives a special tribute to those impacted by the Los Angeles fires, find out how you can contribute! (2:00). They wrap up the episode talking about the jerseys for this year's Stadium Series and what goes into teams picking out their outdoor game walk-in outfits. Does Julie have any inside info (55:25) on what the Red Wings may be planning?

Julie & Cat hopped on a big bird into NYC and headed into NHL headquarters to sit down with Commissioner Gary Bettman (5:33). They tossed out a few potential nicknames that could stick with him, asked him about the thought process behind putting next year's outdoor games in Florida and the keys to balancing the demands of his job with his family. Plus, they touched on how he got his start in professional sports, the potential for expansion in Houston (Julie is from there, she's keen on the idea) and what TV shows have caught his attention recently. They set the stage for what should be quite a series and they want to hear from you!  -- Next week's guest is Angela Price (Carey's wife)... stay locked in.

Julie Petry, married to Jeff and Cat Toffoli, married to Tyler, join forces to bring you behind the curtain of what life is like as a wife of a NHL player. From the glitz and glamour of game nights to the challenges of constant travel, family dynamics, and balancing it all; they share candid stories, laughs, and real-life moments that most fans don’t get to see. These off ice GMs will have conversations with anyone and everyone surrounding the NHL, and answer your most burning questions you have for a real look inside the world of hockey.
