There are a lot of Chinese people, which translates to a lot of Chinese money.  That's money that everyone wants.  It's also a lot of hoops to jump through.  For example, Taiwan is not a country, and if you say it is, you'll be in big trouble.  That's not to say America doesn't have its own quirks.  Here, it's a cultural faux pas to pay a reasonable price for eggs.
