  • Mann ke Mukhaute Ep 1: Adiyal Dukh l

As part of our Public Health issue, we are turning an inward eye to look at our mental experiences, and how they intersect with the health and state systems. In an attempt to move away from pathological and clinical readings and move towards learning from lived experiences, our podcast series Mann Ke Mukhaute interweaves fictional stories and experiential voice notes. We are locating our site of exploration in the mann - the Hindi word that brings together brain, mind and heart, and hints at an intuitive inner truth.

In our first episode, we address grief. As a mental and emotional experience that defined and transformed our lives in the past 18 months, this episode transliterates Ahana Chaudhuri’s Grief is a Stubborn Animal’* into Adiyal Dukh. The story is punctuated with people’s voices, people generous enough to share their experience of grief, and its coping, with all of us.

  • Ep. 02 : Technology and Gender Based Violence

If more people are online, where does the violence go? Apparently, also online. In Episode 2 of Stay Home, Kitna Surakshit?, Madhuri meets Bishakha Datta of Point of View and Uttanshi Agarwal of One Future Collective, to try and make sense of our digital selves, transgressions of online identities, the public-private-corporate dance over our data. And they help us see that there is way more we can do, legally, in response to technology-enabled gender based violence.

  • Pocket-Sized Stories Trailer

At our Learning Lab, we believe that drawing upon lived experience to create narratives, is a way of exercising agency as a marginalised person whose voice is rarely heard — and rarely deemed 'creative'. The Third Eye’s 'Pocket-Sized Stories' bring you narrative discoveries made while plumbing the depths of memory, shaped by each maker's creative agency.

These stories have emerged slowly, fermenting over a steady process of intensive mentoring that starts in one of our writing workshops. Staged on the ground of the everyday, they feature offbeat narrative styles, sometimes bringing you characters like Patnewali (from Patna!) and Achuki from Marwad, sometimes a caseworker’s diary, and sometimes a hushed voice telling you a secret.

If our stories leave you with a thought to express or the need to scribble, write to us at [email protected]. For more such narratives, come find us at thethirdeyeportal.in and thethirdeyehindi.in.
