No Limits: The Mitch Rapp Podcast

Today we change things up and invite book and movie reviewer extraordinaire SteVen Hendricks to the podcast to chat about Without Remorse - the newest Tom Clancy film adaptation starring Michael B. Jordan. Too many signs point to this being the "warm-up" to another disappointing book-turned-movie action film that we will review next month when we cover American Assassin.

Chris & Mike continue the discussion of "all talk no action" as a theme for Pursuit of Honor. Fortunately, there are two cool action scenes that take place in DC - one at a nightclub off H St. NE and another on the Lincoln Memorial. Outside of that...it's all talk. I think we're just ready to move on. You know what comes next!

Woohoo, the day we recorded this episode was the exact 1 year anniversary since the first episode drop of MitchRappPod! A huge shout-out and thank you to all of our listeners. You are the reason we do what we do! In this episode, Chris & Mike discuss the first half of Pursuit of Honor, which just might be better to think of as Part III of Extreme Measures. This book is a bit tough to get through considering the hype of knowing what comes next in June.....American Assassin, anyone?

And now for something a bit different...thriller short stories! We had a blast chatting with author and editor Craig Martelle and his journey into self-publishing! Be sure to check out his most recent release - Make Them Pay - an anthology of thriller short stories centered around the theme of vigilante justice. Enjoy!

No Limits is coming to you LIVE! We recorded this episode - our Part II discussion of Extreme Measures - as a live stream for our Patrons! We hope to continue bringing more live content to our listeners in the future! So check it out as we analyze the evolving nature of Rapp's role at the CIA and discuss the often-overlooked heroic efforts displayed by Mike Nash, Chris Johnson, and others in the intelligence community. Lots of hot takes in this one. For example, is the ending quite possible the best Rapp action scene ever written? Chris & Mike might think so...

Give it up for new kid on the block...MIKE NASH! In this episode, Chris and Mike break down Nash's introduction to the Rappverse and his killer (pun intended) partnership with Mitch. But wait, there's more! We get the very first-ever scene with none other than STAN HURLEY! Although there have been mixed reviews of this book over the years, there's no denying that Vince is doing something different in this one and we LOVE it.

BONUS! One of our listeners reached out after listening to our discussion of the submarine plot in the second half of Protect & Defend a few weeks back. Ben is between deployments in the US Navy onboard a submarine and offered to chat with us to break down the scene and discuss real-world connections to Vince's writing. We wanted to share this interview with you as a bonus weekend episode before we return on Monday with our book of the month for April - Extreme Measures! Enjoy!

Jack even shows us a treasured Vince Flynn memento - the copy of Term Limits he read the plane to Afghanistan. Oh and get this, he drops a hint about a cameo alongside Chris Pratt in the upcoming Amazon series of The Terminal List.

Our Author Series is back with David Austin, author of the Joe Matthews series including Drone Strike and Tehran's Vengeance. As we just wrapped up Protect & Defend, this interview is perfect timing because Dave talks about his experience in the CIA serving on the protection detail for former Directors of Central Intelligence. We pick his brain about what its like on the ground planning a mission abroad and whether the events of Kennedy's taking in Mosul could really happen.

After a "slow burn" in Part I of Protect & Defend, the plot picks up steam in Part II when the story explodes into action as Rapp must channel his inner Liam Neeson (or vice versa?). Vince tries something new (and NAILS it) writing a kick-ass B-plot involving submarine warfare in the Strait of Hormuz. Be sure to stick around to the very end for our heated cover discussion! Oh, and don't forget the magic number is 14.
