Buckle up, kids, lest you get carsick. We went on an overlong road trip and broke it down to under an hour for you with Pixar’s 2006 nostalgia wank, Cars. Did we mention this movie is too long? Because it is. And it raises more questions than it answers. Do Cars mate? Are they mammals? If they “eat” gasoline, what are their tongues for aside from talking? Are they for sex? Are there homosexumobiles? Why were none of those long haul trucks cuddling? Why should the audience care about the main character? You know, little questions like that.

Our month of spoopy goodness continues with the Disney Channel Original “favorite,” Halloweentown! It’s the show’s first DCO film, and wowsers it’s a doozy. Neither Josh nor Clancy caught this one in their youth, and their feelings are true to the Nonplussed name. They attempt to demystify the popularity of this magically inauspicious grab at the rising teen wizard wave of the late 90s. One thing can be said for certain: the late, great Debbie Reynolds knows how to commit.

We’re kicking off a month of spoopy goodness with Tim Burton’s 2012 stop-motion adaptation of his own short film, Frankenweenie! Clancy was less than electrified, unless you count each time he shrieked at Mr. Whiskers. It’s a macabre, spindly pastiche of classic horror, with many of those tried (tired?) and true Burtonesque trademarks we’ve come to expect, saying, “Ah yes, gothic irony, kooky adults, and sharp angles. This… is a Tim Burton film.”

This week’s episode is dedicated to the memory of our own bright, loving, and wonderful dog - Obee. She took her journey over the rainbow bridge suddenly and unexpectedly after we recorded this episode. Rather than chuck this baby out with the proverbial bathwater, we decided to embrace the dramatic irony and release it in her honor. To Obelia Reneé “Obee” Wittge: fashion icon, epic snorer, and world-class spooner.
