Crain’s reports the change comes amid an ongoing challenge by an activist investor demanding changes at Portillo’s. Michael Miles Jr., who’s been serving as Portillo’s chairman, will take over as acting CEO. The Oak Brook-based company’s expansion has hit some speed bumps and has been slower than leadership had hoped.
