Welcome to our first installment of Jane Austen August! To kick off all things Jane Austen, we're starting with a personal favorite-Pride and Prejudice. In this episode, we discuss how Jane Austen's works are still relevant today, how the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie is Very Important To Us, and Emberlin's Fan Behavior Towards Austen's writing. We also take a quiz to find out which Bennet sister we are and one of us is TOTALLY NOT BITTER about her results. Dale!

If you hear any unedited chair squeaks coming from Emberlin's cursed rolling chair it's because Kaitlin was retweeted by David Jenkins mid-editing this episode and she went a little insane about it. SPEAKING of going insane-this book made us think about life and how we spend our time here on Earth so deeply that Emberlin's cat Manny jumped into a hamper to cope with all of the Big Feelings V.E. Schwab made us feel.

Coffee shops and old book stores, ancient cats and the stars-this book has everything we love and then some! V.E. Schwab's The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a tragedy, a romance, and an adventure through time and memory that really made us reflect on how we impact the lives of others and questioned: why does Notion have an app that counts down your life?!?!

Backflips, sword fights, stealing glasses, and stealing our hearts one long coat at a time. Season 4, Episode 4 of What We Do in the Shadows proves that this is Guillermo's world and we're all just living in it. This episode was so good it gave Emberlin memory loss and Kaitlin tonsillitis-what other show could do that?!

In this episode, Kaitlin and Emberlin build Lego sets while singing their favorite musical theater songs! Just kidding, we wouldn't take that spotlight away from Baby Colin Robinson. Join us as we continue our What We Do in the Shadows reviews with all of our thoughts and feelings on Season 4, Episode 3: The Grand Opening. If you hear clown noises in the background that's just part of the ambience.

In a world where magic-oh no.

I spilled my banana chips while I was writing this episode description ffs, hold on...

Ok, I'm back. Anyway....in a world where magic is an afterthought from a different time, a hunter and a prince of darkness have the opportunity to bring their kingdom new hope. They are also bringing us hope that the enemies to lovers island we've deserted ourselves on was worth the trouble. This week, we relive the frozen tundra we grew up in, scream into our pillows, and one of us gets m*rdered in cold blood by a fly. This is our discussion of Hafsah Faizal's We Hunt the Flame.

We both received an INSTANT serotonin boost while watching the Season 4 premiere of FX and Hulu's What We Do in the Shadows! In this episode, we break down all of our favorite parts of the first and second episodes of the new season. It's safe to say that we're very much all aboard the nandermo train, Emberlin would literally die for Nadja, and one joke, in particular, was too tailored towards Kaitlin's idiotic sense of humor that she couldn't breathe.

Since we’ve started Lit By Moonlight, we have really enjoyed sharing our love of stories with you, and one of our goals for this podcast has been to spread that love through more mediums than one, so consider this our branch out from books! We decided we would dive deep into another one of our favorite shows, What We Do in the Shadows! It’s our pleasure to bring you this spin off series where we plan to unpack all of season 4 as it airs on FX and Hulu this summer. Once you catch an episode of this hilarious show, you can tune into our pod where we’ll be breaking things down, ep by ep. But before we jump in, we realize we’re showing up three seasons late to the party - or maybe it’s a vampire orgy - so we wanted to give you a little breakdown of this show thus far, our Big Feelings about it, favorite characters, and much more! Emberlin's cat got so stoked about this show he started eating styrofoam in the middle of recording this episode. If that doesn't get you to watch this show idk what will.

Enemies to lovers, to a cringe heterosexual couple, to enemies again! This isn't just the plot of this week's book, it's also a detailed history of Emberlin and Kaitlin's relationship (we're enemies again, in case you were wondering). This week, we discuss the symbolism of oranges, the beauty of the night sky, and Emberlin's disturbing night terrors. This and so much more in our discussion of Mary E. Pearson's Dance of Thieves.

Should we have known what we were getting ourselves into when we learned that the love interest in this book has a tail? Yeah, probably. This week we discuss three misplaced sisters, two remaining heirs to the Greenbriar line, and one very cruel prince. Once you hear our constructive criticism of this book, you may be wondering if we were the cruel princes all along. This is our discussion of Holly Black's The Cruel Prince.
