PRODUCTION NOTE: Our name has changed but our levels of delusion and derangement have not! Lit By Moonlight is now Normal About It - where we're anything but!
What's this? An extra special BONUS EPISODE?!?! And it's not even about a book?? That's right, after hearing about the recent news of the HBO Max rom-com Our Flag Means Death FINALLY getting renewed on June 1st, we physically and mentally could not let this news go without unpacking all of our feelings about this wonderful show and recording it for a podcast episode instead of sending caps locked messages to each other in the wee hours of the night. This episode is unhinged, to sum it up in one word. We can't guarantee this is the most well thought out episode but we CAN guarantee its a fun time for anyone who also has Very Big Feelings about this show. Emberlin does her best rendition of "Our Prayer" by The Beach Boys, Kaitlin cries about lighthouses, all normal ways to process a show that has quite literally taken over our lives these past couple months. We edited this so quickly that we feel legally obligated to tell you that Emberlin isn't farting, it's just her chair squeaking. We hope you have as much fun as we did recording it!

This podcast exists all thanks to this week's book! In this episode, you will learn that no one is immune to the Grishaverse if you so much as look at Kaitlin, Emberlin loves her strong female leads almost as much as she loves a good map, that the Apparat is a stinky lil guy, and one of us has Very Strong Feelings about Malyen Oretsev. Does the show live up to the book? Is the Darkling an emo senior citizen that desperately needs to be put in a retirement home? Does Emberlin's boyfriend live up to the expectation of tracking a magical deer for her through the wilderness with flowers and chocolate in tow? All this and more in our discussion of Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone.

Nothing says 'Welcome to the Book Club' like starting off with a tragedy! This week we discuss Greek mythology, the relationship of Patroclus and Achilles, connecting the dots of what an Achilles heel truly means, and most importantly, why does Thetis sound like that? All in our conversation about Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles.
