  • Rep. Jared Huffman Takes All Questions at Point Reyes Station Town Hall – August 15, 2019

You might have thought impeachment and guns would be the
leading issues at a recent Town Hall in Point Reyes. But local concerns were
equally important to constituents of Representative Jared Huffman.

What do members of Congress do when they flee the heat and
humidity of Washington DC in August? They come home to their districts. That’s
where Jared Huffman was on August 5th – at the Point Reyes Dance Palace to meet
with constituents and answer their questions. KRCB News Director Steve Mencher
    was there, too.

We recorded the whole meeting if you want more, and you can
    listen at norcalpublicmedia.org.

  • Local Priest Reacts to National Cathedral Statement on Trump – August 14, 2019

There is no national religion. But an Episcopal Church in
the Nation’s capital is called the Washington National Cathedral.

Two weeks ago, the Washington National Cathedral released a
statement titled “Have We No Decency: A Response to President Trump.” The
statement was a direct challenge to the President’s racist rhetoric. Last week,
News Director Steve Mencher talked with the rector of St. Stephens Episcopal
Church in Sebastopol, Christy Laborda Harris. She began by reading from the
    National Cathedral statement.

We spoke with Reverend Christy Laborda Harris just after the
shootings in El Paso and Dayton. More at norcalpublicmedia.org.

  • Activists Reach Agreement with Law Enforcement on Homeless Camp Clean-ups – August 13, 2019

The Santa Rosa Police Department now must follow stricter
guidelines when removing homeless encampments from public spaces.

At the beginning of July, Activists reached an agreement
with the City of Santa Rosa and the County of Sonoma over how homeless people
    are treated during encampment clean-ups.
KRCB’s Adia White went to Santa Rosa’s Olive Park during a clean-up later
that month to find out what the new policy looks like.

  • Bohemian Grove Provides Talent for Monte Rio Variety Show – August 9, 2019

On July 25, the annual Monte Rio Variety Show featured local
talent, comedy and classical entertainment. It also had big-name talent,
including Jimmy Buffet, provided by the Bohemian Club.

The annual event is staffed by volunteers in the community.
But the talent, most of which is kept under wraps until show time, is provided
by the Bohemian Club. That’s the famous – or to some infamous – group that
meets yearly to relax and plot world domination. Or so say some. KRCB’s
Isabella Bloom brings us the story from this year’s variety show.

If you missed the first part of this story about the
Bohemian Grove, you can visit norcalpublicmedia.org. And if you were wondering,
Jimmy Buffet did headline later that night.

  • Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Debates Future of the Bohemian Grove – August 8, 2019

The Bohemian Grove all-male summer encampment makes headlines every year when its elite members visit Monte Rio for their annual getaway. But does the summer tradition reflect Sonoma County’s values?

About two hours north of San Francisco, nestled under the
towering redwoods of Monte Rio, the Bohemian Grove just concluded its 18-day
long, male-only summer camp for the 147th consecutive year. But contention
surrounds the Grove. The national attention is on the Grove’s exclusion of
women and inclusion of powerful, elite men. Conspiracy theorists rave about
alleged rituals and schemes. The truth? KRCB’s Isabella Bloom has the story.

There’s a local tradition that goes along with the annual
Bohemian Grove Encampment. It’s something that everyone can enjoy. We’ll have
that story tomorrow. For more visit norcalpublicmedia.org.
