Nu-Breed Podcast

This week we go all in on an album that we both not only love, but an album that will historically be judged as one of the most influential of it's time...Lamb of God's debut, New American Gospel. This was a really fun one, and we've both listened to this album AT LEAST once a day since we recorded this. Cheers! This week we discuss a trend that while it existed for a while, numetal was one that brought it storming into the mainstream...and that is one of visual theatricality. Think masks, face paint, uniforms, the dedication to aesthetic that bands like Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Mushroomhead used to differentiate themselves. We go into the history of using this type of theater in music (shoutout to Screamin Jay Hawkins!) and land with the bands that are doing this same thing in the modern day. Cheers! This week we're taking y'all on an adventure into the history of the 7-string guitar. From Steve Vai to Korn to Meshuggah and everything after, we discuss the history of how adding one string virtually created an entire genre and has long-lived after effect. This was a fun one, enjoy! This week we deep dive into probably the most divisive album of In Flames' catalog, Reroute to Remain. Some people love it, some people hate it, but there's no denying how impactful this album became to not only the band but an entire genre. Cheers! Before there was Inkcarceration, there was Ozzfest. Before there was Aftershock, there was Lollapalooza. Before there was Louder Than Life, there was....H.O.R.D.E.? This week we did some research around the impact of touring music festivals on trends, culture, fashion, and what was considered cool in the music world. We touch on the foundational touring festivals that greatly impacted the large festival scene in the US, and what gifts have they laid for future fans. Cheers!
