Using "Troop Leading Procedures" by selecting the mission, issuing warning orders, making a tentative plans, initiating necessary movement, conducting recon and executing the mission allows for efficient and easy trip planning. He also describes processes such as PCC (pre-combat/overland check) PACE (with regards to gear: primary, auxiliary, contingency and emergency) and many other tips you can use to prep for your next adventures.
