O3C Games

Welkom allemaal!

We’re back on our globe trotting adventure, exploring the games of the Netherlands with special focus on Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, and Rusty Lake’s… well, Rusty Lake series.

Plus - because we’re good to you lot - Jonathan’s here to tell you all about his recent romp through Dark Souls 3 on the Steam Deck as well as Vampire Survivors copycat Halls of Torment, and Chris has some long tedious updates about his emulation setup. He’s been playing some old tosh via Wii emulation apparently?

GAMES, GAMES, and would you Adam and Eve it, MORE BLEEDIN’ GAMES.

(Bleedin’ Games Murphy? Is that a thing?)

2023 may well be DEAD and BURIED, but what of its gaming legacy?

Join ol’ Jonathan and Chris for their thoughts on the year that was.

How many games did the boys finish between them over the last 12 months? What were the best games of 2023? What were the best games not of 2023 that we played in 2023 for the first time? How’s the Playdate ecosystem getting on? What’s on the gaming docket for 2024?

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

OFF WE GO!

Back on the plane, folks, we’re off to South Korea. Perhaps most famous for their mobile titles and MMORPGs, what other games has the land of K-Pop produced?
Dave the Diver! DJMax Respect! …Metal Slug 4?!

ALSO: Loads of top gaming chat covering the new Steam Deck OLED, Sony’s Insomniac’s Marvel’s Sony’s Spider-man 2, Fae Farm, some Evercade and Playdate updates, and a truck load more we weren’t permitted to take as carry on luggage.

As the plane wheels touch down at CPH, season 6 starts proper. Around the World in 80 Games starts in earnest, TODAY. It’s got a bleedin’ jingle and everything!

There’s Danish facts, Danish games, and Danish jokes. But also, in depth looks at Hitman: World of Assassination (as well as the franchise as a whole) as well as the brand spanking new puzzler from former-Playdead lead Jeppe Carlsen: Cocoon!

Of course, we also update on what we’ve been playing in the last month with thoughts a selection of games including: Windowsill, a Playdate grab bag, Lies of P, and the sometimes nauseatingly bright and colourful (but in a good way) Super Mario Bros Wonder.

Jonathan and Kaspar are back for Part 3 of an originally planned two-part spoiler episode. This time we managed to get through half of our planned discussion, which is only fitting when you are talking about a game where you set off to do one thing and 10 hours later you still haven’t done that one thing, but you’ve done a million other things, and they were all extremely fun! So come join us in the meandering delight that is Tears of the Kingdom!

In part 3:

- We discuss all of Link’s new world-bending, and mind-blowing abilities! We share our favourite use for each one, and no, it’s not just messing with the Koroks!! Well… not just that!

- We talk about the shrines, shrine-quests, how they changed from Breath of the Wild; and which ones were stand-outs for Jonathan and Kaspar.

Once more into the breach!

Jonathan and Chris lay down their thoughts on 7 or so games they’ve played recently:

The shared-world twofer of Aeterna Noctis and Summum Aeterna; a bunch of Vampire Survivors clones; Super Mario Land 2’s gorgeous DX rom hack; the breezy knockabout that is TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge; LaserCat (?); and the calmingly bucolic Farm Together. And… AND… make sure you listen in to find out our intended format for Season 6 proper, kicking off in just a few short weeks!

What ho adventurers! It’s Part 2 of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Spoiler Special! And in this episode, our intrepid gamers Jonathan & Kaspar are diving even deeper in the stories and the world of Hyrule 7 years post-Calamity!

They discuss their favourite Side Quests, Side Adventures & NPCs. They discuss the evolution of the world, and why Nintendo ‘re-using’ the Hyrule map of Breath of the Wild is a stroke of genius!

So many wonderful characters to love and so many incredible stories to be a part of, and J&K are here to tell you about ALLLLLLL of it!

Hey, hey, hey!

Would you like to know what we’ve been playing over our extended Summer hiatus?

How far into his Master Mode run of Breath of the Wild did Jonathan get?

How many consecutive days has Chris played Daily Dadish?

Has Mr Dunn gone Playstation 5 or Steam Deck for Diablo IV?

What about the recent Switch port made Vampire Survivors suddenly click for Chris?

How does Brotato hold up against its vampiric inspiration?

What on earth is the Uzebox, and why has Mr Dow been playing Tetris upon it?

What makes Tents and Trees Jonathan’s logic puzzle du jour?

How does New Star GP hold up against its sibling, the GOAT New Star Soccer?

Is Blasphemous 2 a trim too far when compared to its predecessor?

Have the brothers Dow actually finished their 2 year long playthrough of Plants Vs Zombies?!

Are you still knee-deep into Tears of the Kingdom and perhaps crafting that perfect Hoverbike, hunting those nefarious Bubbulfrogs, or diving to grab a Korok seed instead of destroying Ganondorf and finding the princess?

Then you might want to stay clear of this episode for now, because we are talking about EVERYTHING! Consider yourself warned, this is the spoileriest of spoiler episodes.

In part 1:

- We talk about the first Zelda game we played and why we love the series.
- Find out which one of us tackled the geoglyph memories out of order and which one did it chronologically.
- Find out where we think TotK falls on the Zelda Timeline (nah, not really, who cares?)
- Hear us explore the story beat by beat and share why we think the narrative in this game is so much more compelling than in Breath of the Wild.
- Hear us talk about what we think is the single greatest moment in video game history. (hint: It’s vertiginous!)

We originally planned on talking about many more things in episode 1, but it turns out we love this game so much and praising every aspect takes a lot of time, so please come join us for the next ones, where we will be talking about Side-Adventures, Side-Quests, Shrines, Temples, Purah, Sidon, Thirst Traps and everything in between!

We’re back!

Kind of!

In this pre-season, episode zero kind of dealio, we lay out a few changes that will be part of the upcoming season 6, and try to be as honest as we can about why we’ve had to rock the boat a little in order to keep the ol’ girl sailing.

Please, please, please, join us in the now public Discord, and sign up for the continuing newsletter by visiting o3c.games.

We love each and every one of you!
