Boy oh boy! How are these two boys getting on with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? What new marvels have they unearthed? What new ways of solving puzzles have they found? Just how mad are their respective strategies for approaching every single little thing in the game?

Find out!!

But also find out:

How Chris is faring with Dadish - a daily GBA-inspired run-based charm-em-up!

How Jonathan is faring with Tomb Raider: Reloaded - the ongoing microtransaction-free freemium game.

How Chris’ lizard brain is being satiated with the repetitive cleansing of Power Wash Simulator

You better believe there’s more too!

Enjoy!

Just as Panic saw fit to bestow Playdate owners with 2 free games via their on-device Catalog store, so too do we at O3C bestow upon you reviews of said free games to extend our season coverage of the Playdate.

Reel Steal and Recommendation Dog both arrive via a mentorship programme run in conjunction between Sweet Baby Inc and Panic that looks to give industry opportunity to fledging designers, artists and musicians, but are the two games actually any good?

ALSO: Thoughts on a whole range of Catalog releases including Skwish, Down the Oubliette, A Balanced Brew and MORE.

ALSO ALSO: That Zelda is still incredible, right? (No big spoilers here, but skip to 12:10 if you’ve yet to start Nintendo’s epic and want to go in ICE COLD.)

I know it’s only May, but shall we just announced our Game of the Year now?

Let Chris and Jonathan fill you in on their initial thoughts on Tears of the Kingdom’s opening few hours.

(It’s astonishing.)

SPOILER WARNING: Whilst we don’t go into serious detail about the game’s plot or questlines outside of vague allusions to opening tasks and challenges, we do talk about mechanics and the general topography of the world. If you want to play TotK cold, maybe wait until you’ve played for a few hours before listening!

And with that, we reach games number 23 and 24 in Playdate’s Season One.

Jonathan and Chris tackle both the rotational take on Arkanoid that is b360, and the Link’s Awakening love letter that is Ratcheteer.

Are we going out on a high?

Also! The boys cover a billion other Playdate games released via outside of the main season, as well as the official Playdate Podcast.

How did they fare with The King’s Dungeon? Tapeworm Disco Puzzle? Skew? Grand Tour Legends?

And why is Sparrow Solitaire so, so, so, SO, SO good?!

What better way to celebrate the coronation of KING CHARLES THE RUDDY THIRD than by wrapping your oversized plate-ears around this latest offering from O3C Games! We’re filling each other in on our gaming activity of the last fortnight since last we chatted - and it’s the usual eclectic mix of genres and qualities!

JD chats Vampire Survivors, Tomb Raider and a variety of indie games and Metroidvanias!

CD chats Minecraft, Sonic Frontiers, Mixalumia and Shadows of the Damned!

Obviously!

Enjoy!

Naughty Dog made a game called the Last of Us. Then they remade it. Then they remade it again.

Not content with camping at the top pretty of much all ‘reasons to buy a Playstation 3, 4 and 5’ articles published over the last decade, is The Last of Us’ marquee television serialisation reason to subscribe to Now TV, HBO Max, or Hulu?

Joining Jonathan Dunn to chat game and show is special guest Lewiss Norman. How does the series compare to the game? Is this proof positive that Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann’s efforts were pretty much just interactive cutscenes anyway?

(Chris sits this one out as he’s a massive weenie a bit too scared to play the full game, and a bit too lazy to watch the full series.)

It’s the penultimate week of the ‘oh oh, blue light means there’s new games to play!’ Playdate season, and we’re here, as you rightfully now EXPECT to give our thoughts on the bizarro pairing of Battleship Godios and Forrest Byrnes: Up in Smoke.

A shmup-come-Arkanoid clone with modern racer style rewind? A procedurally generated platformer that tangentially connects to the first person narrative game Firewatch? Quite literally, ONLY on the Playdate.

As a bonus for fans of lil’ cranky, Jonathan also lays down thoughts on Core Fault, Word Trip, and Gravity Express, all available via the machine’s on board Catalog store, and a sideloaded port of indie darling Celeste.

Chris bores us with updates on an Evercade favourite, starts It Takes Two, the third in the loosely connected Josef Fares co-op trilogy, and regales tales from a recently Steam Deck compatible Forza Horizon 4.

Chris and Jonathan play a boat load of videogames.

How ‘bout we do this in alphabetical order, eh?

Alwa’s Awakening, Canon - Legend of the New Gods, Chime, Cruisin’ Blast, Dragon Spirit, Farmside, Gato Roboto, Have a Nice Death, Lone Fungus, Marvel’s Avengers, Pac Attack, Plants vs Zombies, Tomb Raider Reloaded… is that it?!

YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT

SNAKE + JUMP = SNAK

ADVANCE WARS + POKÉMON SNAP = SASQUATCHERS

Allow us to expand on these derivative X plus Ys and give you the lowdown on whether this week’s Playdate offerings ought tickle your pickle.

ALSO!

Resident Evil 4 still doing the business for Jonathan? Is the steady drip of Theatrhythm DLC satiating Chris’ rhythm game urges? How’s the videogames music on vinyl community getting on in 2023? Has Chris got bought of Canon on the Evercade yet? And when on earth did Netflix start offering mobile games with their streaming subscriptions?
