  • MDC 27: New Puppies and Toddler Glasses
Fun changes in the Higgins household! In the last couple weeks we've gotten a puppy, we've gotten Bug glasses, ReAnna got a promotion, and we got some shocking news from Charlie's school.

-We have a new puppy. Like all of our pets, she came to us as a result of our sister not being able to keep her. Of course we have all the troubles of a 3 month old puppy mixed with having a house full of rowdy boys.

-This week our little Bug got glasses. We mentioned having him seen for possibly having a lazy eye before. It turns out that he is just incredibly far-sighted. One eye is just much stronger than the other causing the weak eye to just shut down when it's not useful. Trying to get glasses for a 3 year old is a very trying experience. Trying to keep him from breaking them is even worse.

-In happier news, ReAnna got a promotion at work. She is now a level 4 lead with a decent level of responsibility. She has also completed her 2nd class with an A and is done with her spring semester.

-Vacation time is coming up quickly. Because of our work schedules we effectively have 8 days out of the next 2 months to plan our entire summer vacation. The recent stretch of 100 degree days gave us a taste of the summer to come. It didn't last, but it did manage to scare away all the "snowbirds" that only live out here in the winter months.

-We had a bit of confusing and unsettling news recently. We received a letter from Charlie's school announcing that their "School Leader" (the principal) will no longer be there. This woman started this school and has been a major part of why we love this school so much. Because no explanation was given, ReAnna tried to dig into why she was removed, to no avail. This was so upsetting, we considered looking for a new school for the boys next year.

  • ODO 60: Fake News, Fake Milk, and Fake Festivals
A stomach bug has me a little behind in the news this week but, in Entertainment I've got Ryan Seacrest, Richard Simmons, and a new Hellboy movie. In Weird Shit I've got a woman who doesn't want to share her money, napping at the gym, and REAL fake milk. Wrapping it all up this week's featured podcast is The Countdown: Movie and TV Reviews.

Woman Swallows $9000 Cash to Avoid Sharing With Ex-
A woman in Columbia swallowed $9000 in $100 bills that she had saved with her ex- because she didn't want to give him half in the breakup. Doctors were able to surgically remove $5700 and eventually returned it to her. The rest apparently was fully digested.

    UK Gym Introduces Napping Classes
A fitness company in the UK has begun "napercize" classes where attendees lay down for 45 minutes of rest, instead of further exhausting themselves with other workouts. The company wants to spread word of the health benefits of getting plenty of rest.

"Perfect Day" is Making Cow's Milk Without The Cow
A pair of biomechanical engineers have developed a way to use genetically modified yeast to produce synthetic cow's milk. They combined cow DNA with yeast so that when the yeast ferment they give off milk proteins. They combine those with plant based fats and sugars and the result is a lactose free, nutritionally identical synthetic milk without the use of a cow.

    -JACKASS OF THE WEEK-

Ja Rule and Friends' "Fyre Festival" Marketing Leads to Lawsuits

Not only was the "Fyre Festival" a complete catastrophe of epic proportions, the fallout keeps coming. The event organizers and promoters are now being sued by the bucketful including a $100 million class action suit. Also included in another suit are the social media influencers who may have been paid to promote the event on their profiles including: models, designers, and other high profile social media celebrities. Apparently there is legal precedent that may result in those celebrities actually being held accountable for damages alongside the event organizers.

  • ODO 59: Puppies, Pants, Porn Stars, and Penmanship
This week we seem to have a new addition around the house in the form of a stray dog. I've got a bit of a rant about the Duggar family. A theme of sexual "misconduct" from live sexual harassment and a cross dressing contest winner to a Navy porn actor. Plus a couple lessons from dumb criminals, and this week's featured podcast, "Within the Wires."

    -Around the House-
This week we may possibly be getting a new puppy. And by that I mean, We've probably just gotten a new puppy. Long story short, my sister saw a stray puppy on the side of a busy road. She picked it up and had it checked out with her vet friends, but she can't keep a dog in her apartment. So, here we come, as the only ones nearby with a house, and for some reason the inability to say no when she needs to unload animals. She's making flyers and posting up on lost dog pages and things. In the mean time, we are puppy sitting. Of course if nobody claims this dog, we have another dog.

    -Entertainment News-

Jinger Duggar Wearing Pants. Why Is This News?
Long story short, in the small militia that is the Duggar family, women can only wear knee length skirts. Jinger Duggar's husband disagrees and allows her to wear pants (because modesty.) For some idiotic reason, fans are enraged.

Fox News panelist sexually harrassed live on air, hours after Bill O'Reilly is fired
The same day as Bill O'Reilly was fired over sexual harassment claims, co-host of "The Five," Greg Gutfeld, told co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle, live on air, that she was "giving America a raise."

    -BS FROM THE NEWS-

Androgynous Man Wins Lingerie Photo Contest Intended for Women
A 20 year old man won a women's lingerie photo contest after he and his girlfriend entered him as a joke. The man naturally has very feminine features and the couple thought it would be a funny gag. His girlfriend even did his makeup and picked the clothes.

Navy SEAL Being Investigated For Moonlighting As Porn Actor
A highly decorated Navy SEAL, and husband to porn star Jewels Jade, is being investigated for his part-time porn career. Of course, it's not the porn that is being investigated, but whether or not he had the required authorization to work outside of his Navy job. According to Jade, he was simply helping her career by doing the movies in place of hiring other performers.

    -JACKASS OF THE WEEK-

Dentist pulled tooth while riding hoverboard
An investigation into an Alaska dentist found video of him extracting a tooth of a patient while riding a "hoverboard." Strangely enough, the investigation wasn't for malpractice, but for medicaid fraud. Apparently he had billed medicaid for nearly $2 million for unnecessary IV sedation.

Store clerk can’t read robber’s poor handwriting on note
An Ohio robber's handwriting was so bad on his note that the clerk couldn't read it. The Family Dollar clerk had to hand it back to him to read aloud. He then got away with all of the clerk's money and a pack of cigarettes. The lesson here seems to be, penmanship counts.

    Within The Wires
    http://www.nightvalepresents.com/withinthewires/

"Set within an alternate reality, “Within the Wires” tells stories in the guise of instructional audio programs. Season One, “Relaxation Cassettes," is a 10 part scripted fiction podcast that takes the form of an audio course on full body relaxation issued by The Institute to you, (the listener) a nameless medical inmate. Who is this narrator? Is she relaying something more than just relaxation techniques, and is she to be trusted? And are there subliminal messages hidden within the music? As listeners move through the relaxation curriculum a deeper and more personal story unravels."

  • MDC 25: Not So Spring Broke
This week we come back from a little spring break to chat about some of the changes going on around our lives. ReAnna began a new diet and workout plan that has required some adjustment to our daily routines. But the results are proving to be worth it. At the start of spring break, we took family trip to the Phoenix Zoo that more than pushed our hill climbing endurance. Speaking of weight loss and endurance, we go on for quite a bit about our swimming experiences both with pools and beach life. We also chat about our 8 year wedding anniversary and our little Monster turning 5.
