问对方要不要吃什么喝什么的时候，when we make suggestions about food or drink（当我们对食物或饮料提出建议时），常用how about/what about+名词/名词短语。其实这算是邀请（invitations）。

要不要来杯咖啡？/ 来杯咖啡怎么样？ 

What about a coffee?

Put all (one's) eggs in one basket 这个习语已经有300多年了，它最早的记录是在1710年，更早的时候有类似意思的表达是“将所有货物交托给一艘船” trust all one's goods to one ship（goods 货物）。

《堂吉诃德》中，一个聪明人“not venture all his eggs in one basket”（venture 动词，冒险做……。不冒险把所有的鸡蛋都放在一个篮子里）

*“冒险做”这个意思更常用的词是 risk，冒险做……，冒险去……，也可以作名词，冒险，风险，危险）

马克·吐温（Mark Twain）的《傻瓜威尔逊》（Pudd'nhead Wilson）里：傻瓜说，不要把所有鸡蛋放在一个篮子里，但聪明人说，put all your eggs in one basket, and watch that basket!（把你所有的鸡蛋都放在一个篮子里，看好那个篮子！）

我们让别人别生气，可以说 Don't be angry. Don't get angry. 还可以说：

Have a cow 这是个美国说法，最出名的就是动画片《辛普森一家》（The Simpsons）里Bart Simpson的口头禅，他常劝别人别生气。

花费 spend，过去式 spent

My dad spent $500(five hundred dollars) on a new shirt and my mom had a cow.

我爸爸花了500美元买了一件新衬衫，我妈妈很生气。

据说，have a cow 源于更早的一个英国表达：

have kittens

kitten 小猫

对某事变得非常紧张、不安、焦虑

= to become very nervous or upset about something

Don't have kittens. Calm down.

The boss will have kittens if I don't get back within an hour.

为什么会说 have kittens呢？

听说在中世纪时（in the Middle Ages）,怀孕的妇女胃疼是有很多只小猫在她的子宫里抓。

monkey on (someone's) back

① [俚语] 毒瘾、药物成瘾

② 如果说 you have a monkey on your back，意思是 you have a problem（你遇到了问题），often an emotional problem（通常是情绪上的问题，emotional 情绪（上）的，情感（上）的 <—> physical 身体上的），而且这个问题 makes your life difficult for a long period（让你的生活在很长一段时间内很艰难）。

后面还可以跟一句：
