"Understated" is an almost understatement for Shtisel, a character-driven drama about family, love, loss, hope, and resiliency experienced by an ultra-religious family in Israel. Most important, aside from a wonderful reliance on acting, character, and simple makeup is the proof that an engaging, relatable, emotional story can be told in a clean way.
(Side note, Season Three toes some of the boundaries the show set up for itself--married couples reach out to or hold each other in private settings--but no lines are crossed that would affect our ratings.)
