  • Full House: S7E2: The Apartment (In Honor Of Scott Weinger's Birthday)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today in honor of Scott Weinger's (Steve Hale) birthday today I've decided to cover Full House S7E2: The Apartment, which aired on September 21, 1993.
In this episode Steve gets an apartment and D.J goes for a visit. She falls asleep on the couch and Danny gets angry when she doesn't come home on time. He goes to the building and looks through the window.
Also in this episode, Joey's tranquility tapes do more harm than good, like put him in a life or death situation he is not aware of and may never be, when that cement truck chute comes down breaking glass that rains down into the kitchen, surprisingly close to him that I'm surprised that chute didn't take him out as it came down and he doesn't even feel his feet being covered in wet cement. Yikes!
Michelle's lack of understanding the definition of the word hobby, which does not include, going to school, brushing your teeth or clipping your toenails or even cementing the driveway, all Jesse's suggestions, because even he, a grown adult does not know the meaning of a hobby, which is weird because his biggest hobby is playing guitar in a band. I'm sorry but unless you're making money and earning a living from it, it's a hobby. Just like my podcasting.
Michelle takes it upon herself to figure out a hobby, which turns out to be a big headache for Danny who's already burning the candle at both ends as he's policing DJ and Steve's goings on around the house by following them with a vacuum, only to have to deal with a bigger mess than the girl's leaf covered bedroom (complete with little bugs on them) because the kitchen floor is now being remodeled in cement.
DJ and Steve spend an evening at his place after choosing between Indecent Proposal (lots of having sex and talking about having sex with Robert Redford) they go for the safe choice, The Terminator (which does include a pretty lengthy sex scene between Sarah Conner and Kyle Reese as they create John Conner, I know TMI).
The movie must have been boring because they konk out before the end credits roll.
Danny spies on them from above together asleep on the couch as the chair breaks causing them to wake and realize it's way late , like 1AM late. They discover a disheveled Danny on the floor outside the door. Then he lays into DJ for breaking curfew, forbidding her from darkening Steve's doorway ever again.
Kathy Santoni's married and pregnant in high school teen mom status, puts the fear of God in Danny and his nerves on high alert, only imagining what DJ is doing after midnight with Steve.
Things work out in the end, we get a mention of Pam and how she would have been better equip to handle this sensitive non Dad territory conversation and DJ assures Danny she is a long ways off from wanting to settle down and start a family and Danny relinquishes his hold on DJ's grounding giving her the greenlight to visit Steve's apartment again.

  • Full House: S6E15: Be True To Your Preschool (Back To School Series)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Here's the next entry in the Full House Back To School Series S6E15: Be True To Your Preschool, which aired on January 26, 1993.
In this episode after feeling pressure from another couple with a child who stress the importance of getting your child into the right preschool Jesse lies about the twins' academic abilities to get them in to a prestigious preschool unbeknownst to Becky who just rolls with it until questioned by the school's administrator when the boy's are chosen for an interview, finally Becky and Jesse reveal that the application was embellished for the sake of their boys's educational future. Kimmy gets her drivers license, and takes it upon herself to disregard the rules of the road endangering not only her life but they lives of the Tanner girls when the play Ring Around The Chevy to rag on the chess team. Well, the joke's on the girls when they realize they've locked themselves out of the car while it's still running.
Also during this podcast I look up one of the dangerous car games called Car Surfing and the teen death statistics that go along with it and the article sites the movie Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox dancing on the hood of a car as the reason behind it.
I'll admit when I was 8 I saw the movie Dick Tracy and Charlie Korsmo's character "Kid" jump on the back on a car and I impersonated it by jumping on to the back on a hay wagon. Don't worry, this was at The Farm (Grandparents House) in the driveway and I was quickly scolded and never did it again.
As well as the cost of private schools and private preschools in California and New York annual prices ranging up to $41,000.
Join me next week when I cover Full House S7E5: Fast Friends, which aired on October 12, 1993.
In this episode Stephanie meets new friends, but soon feels pressured to smoke. Jesse and Joey host a radio show called Teen Talk; or is it Yakkin' With Youth?

  • Full House: S2E7: Joey Gets Tough (In Honor Of Dave Coulier's Birthday)
    Hey Full House Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered Full House S2E7: Joey Gets Tough, which aired on November 25, 1988.
In this episode Joey and DJ's relationship becomes strained when she is an hour late returning home and forgets to call a worried Joey who is beside him and imagining the worst has happened to her.
In order to start pulling rank and proving to Danny that he can be an authority figure and disciplinarian, during his heated confrontation with DJ, he forbids he from competing in her karate tournament that she's been practicing for months on.
The side plot has Jesse and his band performing on Wake-Up San Francisco as a way to promote his weekend gig at Slims and fill the venue. Danny and Becky's producer only agrees to have the band on if Danny could do a number with the band, which he does and completely takes over as lead singer hijacking the song Proud Mary and ad libbing lyrics, while performing an array of ridiculously erratic dance moves that I can only imagine makes Jesse's band a laughing stock and they end up losing the gig.
That's just my guess though on the last part.
Back at home tensions are high as DJ is avoiding Joey like the plague all the while giving him the cold shoulder.
The family has a meeting where DJ exclaims "Dad, help. Everyone's against me. Why are you doing this to me?
This leads to Danny, DJ and Jesse getting into a screaming match until Joey grabs the yellow wiffle bat and tells everyone to stop fighting and then Joey reveals he grew up in a home where his parents were always fighting and yelling at each other.
And doesn't want this household to succumb to that.
In really felt it was unnecessary for Jesse and Stephanie (especially Stephanie) to be there.
This was between DJ, Joey and Danny, let them work it out.
Finally DJ retreats to her room after not getting her way. Joey follows her and they have a heart to heart (one of the few we see between them in this show)they re establish their strong bond and he changes his mind and re grounds her for next weekend so she can go to her karate tournament.
DJ doesn't learn a real lesson as she ts her way. Joey once again waffles on being the authority figure and we are back to square one.
    Better Luck Next Time Joey.

  • Full House: S5E12: Bachelor Of The Month (In Honor Of Gail Edwards's Birthday)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
In honor of Gail Edwards’s (Vicki Larson) Birthday today.
I decided to cover Full House S6E12: Bachelor of the Month, which aired on November 26, 1991.
    In this episode:
Danny is named Bay Area Magazine’s Bachelor Of The Month and every available woman in San Fran is lining up to get a piece of him. One lady I kid you not, jogged across the Bay Bridge to his back door to ask Danny to dinner.
    24 dates in 10 days. I did the math that’s 2.5 dates a day.
Clearly Danny is not pacing himself. Granted he’s only bachelor of the month, not the year, so he’s got to get the dates while he can because once the month’s up he’ll be yesterday’s news and no one will care.
Three years of submitting his photo and bio finally paid off.
Jesse and Becky as new parents to infants Nicky and Alex are prime examples of the walking dead, running on 2 hours of sleep a night and are drowning in mountains of dirty laundry.
Joey, Deej and Steph jump in to assist and give the new parents a night off for a romantic candlelight dinner only for them to nod off at the dinner table while holding hands across the table. Cuteness overload.
Joey loses rock, paper, scissors to the girls and has to change Nicky’s diaper only to complain the whole time in a Popeye voice.
Apparently baby’s pee out of their foot which is evident in the changing table scene. C’mon props person. Get it together.
Danny’s nighttime bedtime story ritual with Michelle is sorely lacking in the creative department as he cuts corners to fit in all his dates and tucks Michelle in at 3 in the afternoon.
Michelle kidnaps Teddy and they hijack Danny’s date with Vicki where they eat $50 pieces of chocolate cake.
Danny and Vicki admit their true feelings of looking for someone special and share their first kiss as the audience goes cray-cray!
Join me next week as I belatedly celebrate Dave Coulier's birthday covering Full House S2E7: Joey Gets Tough, which aired on November 25, 1988.
In this episode Joey and DJ comes to blows after she comes home late, forgetting to call and basically tells him to chillax. Joey fed up with DJ's lack of respect and taking advantage of him he grounds her and forbids her from competing in her karate tournament that she's been strategizing for months. This causes a rift in their relationship which has to be worked out in none other than a Tanner Family Meeting.

  • Full House: S6E6: Educating Jesse (Back To School Series)
Happy Full House Friday Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Here’s the next episode in the Full House Back To School Series
Full House S6E6: Educating Jesse, which aired on October 27, 1992.
In this episode DJ and Kimmy look to Joey and Jesse to be spokesman for their Stay In School Campaign.
Jesse adamantly refuses and it isn’t until he is cornered in the kitchen by his family demanding to know his reasons for not helping that he blurts out “I can’t help you with your stay in school campaign, because I didn’t stay in school. I’m a drop out”
I also look up famous high school drop outs, for example Albert Einstein.
The family is shocked that Jesse kept this secret from them as are we the audience who saw Jesse in Season 4 go to his 10 year high school reunion.
Becky does a little reversal psychology on Jesse and he tells her he’ll go back and retake that one English Class he needed in order to get his diploma and finally graduate high school.
Turns out that stewed prune of a teacher that put Jesse in his place 10 years ago is still teaching and he remembers Jesse.
Jesse gets way off on the wrong foot with this teacher if he's trying to prove that he's more mature and he's not the same delinquent from 10 years ago as the teacher Mr. Peterson thinks he is.
Jesse starts cutting up in class trying to impress his classmates who chuckle nervously as he makes snide comments at the teacher's expense. The teacher ends up roasting Jesse after he recites part of the poem "O Captain, My Captain by Walt Whitman, only to freeze like a deer in headlights when the teacher asks him what the poem means and Jesse just gleams the first few lines "there was a captain, a journey, which was finished, they all got out of the rack and they all won a prize"
    Nice interpretation there, Jess.
I read the whole poem during this podcast episode and discover it is way longer the just the first paragraph Jesse recites, it is always very dark. Spoiler Alert, the captain dies.
The teacher informs Jesse it's actually about Abraham Lincoln and Jesse jokingly asks "Why didn't they just call it "O Lincoln, My Lincoln".
The teacher at this point has had enough of Jesse's antics and tells him to sit down carefully, so as not to hurt his brain, the class laughs uproariously and a humiliated Jesse instead of sitting down and shutting up, he asks for the pass and before walking out the door looks at Mr. Peterson and says "See you in another 10 years"
Meanwhile Michelle is having difficulty learning to tie her shoes it doesn't help matters that Danny and Stephanie one up each other in battle of who can tie their shoe better or correctly and we get two shoe tying songs:
The Tree Song and Bunny Boy Bunny Boy thanks to Becky who's jumped on the teaching Michelle to tie her shoes band wagon. I like Bunny Boy, Bunny Boy better.
I learned that there is a record out there for fastest shoe tier, set by a group of people in Singapore as of October of 2018, who participated in this event for a charity.
We can't forget the plot that started Jesse on his back to school journey, Dj and Kimmy try to come up with a slogan for their school's Stay In School Campaign, it's a shame the other students don't get a say or maybe they could care less and left up to DJ to come up with a few and they can all vote on one.
I also looked up some stay in school or school slogans. Some were pretty cool and creative.
Join me next week for the next episode Back To School Series, Full House S6E16: Be True To Your Preschool, which aired on January 26, 1993.
In this episode Jesse lies about the twins' academic abilities to get them in to a prestigious preschool. Kimmy gets her drivers license.

  • Full House: S5E1: Double Trouble (Back To School Series)
    Hey Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today I covered the next episode in the Back To School Series Full House S5E1: Double Trouble, which aired on September 17, 1991.
    In this episode we see:
Jesse comes back home from a 6 week tour with his band, to an astonished surprise that his wife Becky is very visibly pregnant which he takes awkward glee in pointing out.
DJ starts high school and wants to be viewed by Danny as being dressed too attractive (basically too hot) to leave the house, it’s a blazer/skirt combo Deej, maybe she should takes lessons from Kimmy who’s too hot for school outfit makes Danny’s eyes bug out.
Stephanie’s got a great confident attitude going into the 4th grade and it also helps that her teacher is a “major babe” (Steph’s words), it’s a shame she mentions this in front of Michelle cause it’s gonna come back to bite in the butt later.
Joey gives Michelle some outdated Bullwinkle impression to wow her kindergarten classmates with including her future best friend Teddy who during their meet cute calls her a strange kid, she flees into an empty hallway eventually tracking down Stephanie who teaches the kids that Bullwinkle and talking with your hands on your head is cool and socially acceptable as an icebreaker.
Jesse and Becky get a shocking surprise to discover she’ll be eating for three as she’s carrying twins. Jesse all but has a nervous breakdown requiring help from a nearby oxygen tank.
The family helps Jesse realize that he won’t be doing this alone and no two kids will be loved more.
The Tanner house just got more full.
Join me later this week for the next episode in the Full House Back To School Series Full House S6E6: Educating Jesse, which aired on October 27, 1992.
In this episode DJ and Kimmy are doing a program that encourages kids to stay in school, so they ask Jesse and Joey to talk about it on their radio show, but Jesse refuses. When Jesse admits that the reason he won't do the show is because he didn't stay in school, the family encourages him to finish school. Unfortunately however, when he goes back to high school, his teacher turns out to be the teacher that caused him to drop out of school. When his teacher embarrasses and insults Jesse, Jesse asks for the bathroom pass and says "See ya in 10 years". When Michelle, who is learning to tie her shoes, finds out that Jesse dropped out again, she gives up on tying her shoes because she thinks ok because Jesse quit. In the end, Jesse and Michelle talk and Jesse ends up going back to night school and Michelle keeps on trying to tie her shoes.

  • Full House: S3E16: Bye, Bye Birdie (Back To School Series)
    Happy Friday Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
The next episode in the Full House Back To School Series S3E16: Bye, Bye Birdie, which aired on February 2, 1990
In this episode Michelle’s first day of preschool goes terribly wrong when she releases the class bird who ends up flying out an open window (what are the odds, right?).
Stephanie’s snooping finally catches up to her as she is caught red handed with DJ’s diary literally glued to her hand.
We also meet Aaron Bailey (the share king of preschool) who’s sweet demeanor turns icy as he is quick to point out Michelle’s shortcomings when she helps Dave the bird fly the coop, going so far as to remind her that she’s a very bad girl after she already berated herself.
Poor Michelle, it was an accident after all.
And what was with the wide open window? Any child could have fallen out of it.
Maybe that’s why this teacher Miss Petrie (Peh-Tree not Petrie from Land Before Time) is never heard from again and Mrs. Manning takes her place.
Apparently flattery gets you out of lectures. Just tell the person they fascinate you and boom you’re in the clear.
Hey, I mean, it worked on DJ with Stephanie.
Anyone else have a growth chart on the wall as a child?
Join me next week for S5E1: Double Trouble, which aired on September 17, 1991.
In this episode Jesse and Becky learn they are expecting twins, Stephanie's got the hots for her 4th grade teacher and Michelle starts kindergarten where she meets Teddy (Taj Mowry) who is not at all impressed by her Bullwinkle impression.

  • Full House: S3E2: Back To School Blues (Back To School Series)
Happy Full House Friday Tanner Fans,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Here’s the next episode in the Full House Back To School Series.
Full House S3E2: Back To School Blues
    Airdate: September 29, 1989
    In this episode
DJ’s first day of junior high could be ranked as the “worst day of my life” in her book.
A trio of scrub calling mean girls outs DJ for dressing exactly to a T like the lunch room monitor played by none other than Eliza Jane Wilder from Little House On The Prairie (I found out what happened to Eliza Jane, she got into a time machine to 1989 San Fran, JK, it’s Lucy Lee Flippin), but her mannerisms are very much straight outta Walnut Grove.
DJ and Kimmy decide to up their age
and their bra size (Kimmy) by going from 12 to 25 overnight (Danny’s words) tight clothes, clown face , the works, to the point of slathering it all over (girls, there’s such a thing as overkill).
Poor Stephanie is getting first day jitters only this time it’s because her big sis won’t have her back and she’ll be all alone “the only Tanner” she says on repeat.
Luckily for her, DJ’s worst day turns out to be Steph’s best day ever as she recounts for the guys that she’s the new fish feeder of Room 7, and how she shamed a first grader for his lack of knowledge in the literary department, I mean come on, you can’t even read the word cafeteria. What are you even doing here?
We get throwbacks to Season 1’s the first day of school when Steph mentions the phony cough, the Barbie lunch box is still rocking strong two years later and DJ’s hand me down pink bag with the white stripes is now Stephanie’s.
Becky takes a page out of Jesse’s playbook and offers DJ advice about boyfriends, slow dances and first slow kisses until Danny shuts her up with a hard look.
Joey gives Jesse golfing lessons in preparation for a motor oil campaign pitch with a client.
We get our first “You Got It Dude” from Michelle
Join me next week for the next episode in the Full House Back To School Series, Full House S3E16: Bye Bye Birdie, which aired on February 2, 1990.
In this episode Michelle loses the preschool's pet bird and we meet Full House's holy terror (no, not Rusty) Aaron Bailey. Also Stephanie's snooping comes back to bite her in the butt, which is what Comet should have done because she uses him as a scapegoat after she breaks the lock on DJ's diary and says he's to blame to Jesse.
That's probably why he destroys Mr. Bear as payback.

I really enjoyed this episode as I could relate to Stephanie in a way that we all can really first days in a new school or a new job where you don't know anyone is both scary and intimidating.
Danny's words ring true "If you don't try something new, you never know what you could be missing out on. These words can be applied to almost anything.
We also get hilarious lines delivered from Stephanie and a sweet sister moment between DJ and Stephanie as they both learn a lesson about change and new beginnings.
