In this episode, LAR's Chantale Hutchinson interviews Okanagan College student Kieanna Boomer-Jones and chemistry professor Carl Doige about a Moodle-based Growth & Goals Module. This OER module was created by Alison Flynn's research group at the University of Ottawa to support students in developing skills in Self-Regulated Learning. Over the summer of 2022, chemistry professor's Summer Li and Carl Doige adapted this OER using H5P and Moodle questionnaires to be a self-contained unit embedded in Moodle. Kienna Boomer-Jones pilot tested the module.  She offered valuable feedback and even contributed an interactive H5P-based exercise. 

In this episode, Dr. van Caspel describes a novel assessment strategy as applied to his astronomy course. He explains why traditional assessment models are not always effective in gauging student learning and how he employed an "ungrading" approach in his astronomy course to support students coming from very diverse backgrounds.

In this episode, Arthur Balx (AACP - Kelowna) shares his experiences of using Wooclap in his chemistry and biology courses. He relates how using Wooclap in his classes has allowed him to more readily acquire formative feedback on student learning and in particular it has provided him with a tool to get feedback from all students - those who are quick to respond and those who are a bit slower!

In this episode, Christina Grant, from Okanagan College's Communications Department, describes her approach to a newly designed course called "Topics in Communications: Intercultural Communications in a Global Community: Exploring Old and New Stories of Self and Other."  In particular she highlights how individualized, multimodal e-portfolio assignments have supported students' exploration of intercultural communication and ultimately how this course has led to transformative learning!
