In a surprise announcement this morning, White House border czar Tom Homan declared that 700 federal officers are being withdrawn from Minnesota effective immediately, citing what he called “unprecedented cooperation” between federal, state, and local authorities. The drawdown—affecting ICE, Border Patrol, and CBP personnel—comes amid weeks of unrest and follows mounting political pressure to reduce the federal presence in the Twin Cities. Roughly 2,000 agents will remain as targeted enforcement operations continue.
