                        • Ben Oosterveld: Bio

Ben Oosterveld deeply cares about what people think but is not controlled by that anymore… He was a people pleaser for years living daily with a high level of internal pressure to perform while judging himself constantly in his mind.

But today, Ben is now truly comfortable in his own skin and is no longer worried to offend and risk a relationship by saying the things people desperately need to hear.

He deeply cares for the human soul and has dedicated his life to being himself unapologetically. To this day Ben challenges everything he thinks, feels and believes by asking,

“Is this truly mine or something I was told to believe?”

The result is a real and raw and deeply inspiring human being who understands what he wants, who he is and what’s important.

Ben has 5 kids that now call him daddy and enjoying a real marriage that truly satisfies his soul. He became a Realtor and within his first two calendar ye, rs he made $1,000,000 in commissions and truly dominated his local market.

He became a Real Estate Agent with the one purpose: mentoring Real Estate Agents to have a life that they actually love, to deepen their closest relationships, eliminate self sabotage, stop being the worker and become the business owner.

The result for the Real Estate Agents he mentors is a truly fulfilling life with high net worth businesses that serves them and blows the minds of their clients.

Our guest today is, Chris Biasutti. Chris is an entrepreneur, coach, and speaker who works with individuals and entrepreneurs on creating change and growing themselves and their businesses. I’ve known Chris for years now through the world of real estate investing. What blew me away about Chris is the adventure he’s been in the past couple years. He’s had incredible career heights, gone through intense breakdowns, and has had breakthroughs in authenticity, fulfilment, and living his dream life! At the time of this recording, he’s on his sailboat with his young family in the middle of South Pacific. New Zealand to be exact. He made this massive lifestyle change over a year ago, letting go of his business and life back home in Vancouver (for now) to take some space, reconnect with himself, his family, and live a dream he’s had for a very long time.

“It was because I was continuing to do something I was forcing myself to do, it wasn’t something I wanted to do. It wasn’t something I was connected and so I was disconnected from myself.”

“I didn’t know what was next when I look back and reflect on it now. In that, I was in this place of pain and unhappiness, and I was really struggling, I was stuck. I couldn’t see myself where I am now, back then.”

“Who am I if I’m not this? That was coming from a place of ‘if I am not this’ then I’m a failure. People are going to think I’m a failure. If I let go of this, I won’t be good enough for the people in my life.”

“Things don’t really make you happy. If you’re looking to things for happiness, it’s never enough. The happiness comes from within me.”

[On Phillip McKernan’s One Last Talk]
“I’ve spoken to rooms of 500 of people about real estate so I thought this would be a piece of cake. I got up there and I had nothing to say. That’s when I realized how disconnected I was.”

“Just letting the feeling of disconnection in is connecting.”

“Allowing myself to feel the pain, I remember saying ‘I’m feeling really shitty right now, but it’s actually amazing to feel something.'”

“I just sat in that discomfort and in time it began to dissipate. Eventually it got replaced by warmer feelings.”

“For the first time in my life I connected to the feeling of love. And then I found the courage to make some changes.”

“The only way for me to actually be there for everybody else in my life is that I need to be connected myself, and in order for me to be connected I need space.”

“I started to let go of things that I felt were not serving me in my life.”

“In the pain of that moment I first discovered the meaning I had been searching for. It is OK to be unhappy. It is OK to hurt. It is OK to feel. It is OK to be me.”

“It’s impossible to live in a small space with people whether they’re your family or not unless there’s some connection.”

“We all have these painful feelings, these good feelings, we can all relate to them, and what makes us all different is the way we experience them.”

“When we share a piece of ourselves with someone else, we’re also recognizing a piece of them.”

                                            Meet Cory:

Cory Chadwick is the founder of The Personal Greatness Project, empowering teenagers and young adults to thrive in a quickly changing world, and realize their potential as their greatest authentic selves.

Having survived a brain virus in his teens, Cory was forced to make a choice – a choice we all have to make – about who he wanted to be and what kind of life he wanted to live. Cory could have let his illness define and limit him, but instead he chose to take a stand against mediocrity. He was determined to discover what he was capable of so he can live up to his potential.

He believes there’s something great inside each one of us just waiting to come out, and we’re capable of amazing things when it does. That belief led to Cory selling his successful restaurant and bar business so he could commit to impacting lives and making a difference. He’s a proud husband and father, a passionate speaker, and mentor to teens and twenty somethings to upgrade their personal operating systems in order to function optimally in the world.

“If I can’t say, definitively, that I lived a 10 out of 10 kick ass kind of life, then I’m doing something wrong right now and I need to change it.”

“The same way your computer or your phone have an operating system… that operating system gets upgraded every year. Tech changes so quickly it needs to catch up so it can perform at an optimal level. We’ve got operating systems that have never been updated. They’ve never been upgraded.”

“The Personal Greatness Project is an upgrade to your operating system so you can do more, be more, accomplish more, love more, be happier, be successful without it having to be a strain.”

“Life’s not gonna be easy and nobody’s doing any favours by telling you that it will be. I’d much rather be prepared for the hard times than be blindsided by them.”

“Anything from worst to best, and everything in between is a choice. So you can choose your 5 out of ten, your 6 out of 10, or your 10 out of 10.”

“It is not easier to live a 5 out of 10 life than it is to live a 10 out of 10 life. It takes so much effort. It’s so much hard work to tread water in life.”

“If you’re going to go build a house, would you do it with just a screwdriver and a hammer, or would you fully equip yourself with all the tools that you need to really build an awesome house?”

“We make thousands of decisions a day. If I can make as many decisions as I can with the idea of ‘this is who I want to be’ as my decision-making criteria, it’s amazing what you create thinking that way.”

“I had to make peace with being alone–and the idea I might not get to be a dad, and I might not ever get married–I had to make real peace with that. Otherwise, I would have forced my way into a different relationship.”

“If you don’t say goodbye to your 8, you won’t ever get to say hi to your 10.”

“When I say it is never too late to be the person you want to be and the person you are capable of being, I would say that no matter [how old you are and what you’ve been through] there’s absolutely nothing you can do about anything that has happened before this very moment right now.”

“Unless you are 95 and on your deathbed with two more minutes to go, you’ve got time to be who you want to be.”

“You don’t have to wait from the time you to start to start getting a payoff. You will see things happen right away. You will feel differently right away. That will build and build the more you’re doing it.”

“Where you are now is irrelevant. How long it took for you to get here is irrelevant. It’s what comes next, and it’s all about what comes next. It is all up to you.”

“You cannot go back in time and write a new beginning, but you decide how your story ends.”

Today my guest is The Cornerman, Dr. Jeff Spencer. After meeting Jeff for the first time I was blown away to hear about his experiences, insights, and observations on goal achievement and the champion’s mindset. I truly value his wisdom and have implemented what I’ve learned from our conversations, his newsletters and this interview. It has created an immense amount of clarity, focus, and action for me in my business.

If you don’t already know him, Jeff is someone who wants you to win big. He has over several decades in the high-performance world as an Olympian and cornerman to champions and has evolved a repeatable blueprint for anyone to get what they want. His goal is to share with you his step-by-step proprietary process that has created Olympic gold-medalists, world champions and has helped celebrities, business, and political leaders to accomplish their goals consistently and predictably.

In this episode, we dive into the impact of self-care on your day, distinguishing the champion’s nature vs human nature, the value of doing the most difficult task first, distinguishing between goal setting and goal achievement, the importance of seeing the path forward and much, much more.

I am so excited for you to absorb Jeff’s wisdom. Enjoy!

“I judge my success as a human on whether if I show up and I’m receptive to my calling as an individual, then it’s been a successful day for me.”

“When we react and engage life through our impulses it’s not a recipe for long-term excellence.”

“There is something within us that does want to make a difference and does want to manifest a quality life of value, a life contribution, and that to me, is a stronger desire than our fear-based survival instinct.”

“The survival instinct gets first dibs of every bit of information and so we do have to understand the language of greatness and understand the language of excellence, and learn how to apply those tenets and principles that reflect that.”

“Human nature, given an opportunity would say ‘what do I stand to lose here?’ That’s typical because it’s fear-based, it’s a typical human nature response to it. But the champion’s nature is ‘what do I stand to gain here?'”

“It’s not just a mindset of thinking big with mantras, positive thinking, all of those are valuable, but it’s really what our action responses to life as life unfolds from moment to moment.”

“Life will present options to our level of competency and our development as a human.”

“It’s extremely important that we be around a variety of things and get good counsel from those people that are, and have done, the things we’re aspiring to do.”

“Everyone thinks the people at the top have it mastered because they have their own businesses, they are accomplished. They don’t understand the magnitude of the challenge that’s associated with that. If you look at high performers their lives a thousand times more complex than the average person’s.”

“Everybody needs guidance. Everybody needs a voice of sobriety. Everyone needs an honest conversation about these things.”

“Anxiety drops when there’s no more ambiguity.”

                                                    [Jeff’s suggestions for conquering ambiguity]
“You need some guidance. You need a Sherpa who can show you how to climb Mount Everest because, on your first try, you want to make it count, but you don’t want to fall off the mountain into the ravine where you never recover from.”

“Working hard is important and plans are important, but if we don’t know where we are in the plan we don’t have a personal GPS.”

“The goals that we choose need to be done appropriately based upon our capacity to manifest them at a certain point in time.”

“The early challenges should be vetted in the preparation before you even get started so you have a sense of what the obstacles are going to be.”

“My model will not let you make decisions that you’re not ready to make because it will reveal your state of readiness. It won’t let you get ahead of yourself, you don’t want to get ahead of yourself.”

“I believe money and the relationship we have to money is one of the biggest single challenges we have. There’s so much emotion around money whether that’s positive emotion or negative emotion.”

“Rather than having this approach of abundance and that there’s more than enough for everyone, and you can make enough money following your bliss, and you don’t have to do things you hate just because the money’s good–it took me a long time to figure that out–it was more of a fear based approach.”

“What I realized is money had very little, if not nothing, to do with alignment for me.”

“I’ve actually seen that money seems to be the biggest source of misalignment.”

“It’s amazing; the amount of shit we will tolerate because the money’s good. Are you willing to be miserable and do something you hate, day in and day out?”

“I’m not flippant enough to say we don’t need a certain amount of money, there’s some things you gotta take care of like food and rent for example, but I really don’t think making money should come at the cost of your souls.”

“I couldn’t tolerate doing something any longer that I wasn’t passionate about. So I just quit. I left behind my six figures, and my expense account, and my benefits, and my security and said ‘no, I gotta live my life I have to feel again. And if that feeling is of fear then I need to dive into it.”
