  • OPC 029: Finding the Love and Joy In Our Lives Again

As we move from childhood to adulthood, we go through experiences, traumatic incidents, compare ourselves to others, and create insecurities around limiting belief systems. We begin to lose an initial state of love and joy that we were innately born with. Little by little, we lose our perspective and our purpose. Bogged down by work, relationships, and stressors, we can mistakenly try to find love and joy in a bottle, drug, food, shopping, or toxic relationship, and can find ourselves inhibited by patterns of thoughts and feelings we're looking to escape.

So how do we separate ourselves from these thoughts and feelings and begin to create a more purposeful life filled with love and joy?

In this week's recovery coaching call, the group helped Jeannine. Living in the past about a potential job opportunity, Jeannine is stuck in a thought pattern that she can have "just a few drinks." The group helps her recognize the thoughts and feelings she is battling and helps her find ways to get out of herself to create a more fulfilling life.

In this week's recovery coaching call, you'll learn:

    • How to recognize negative feedback loops
    • How to separate thoughts and feelings from our innate nature of love and joy
    • How to find joy in the simple things
    • How we unconsciously mistake maladaptive behaviors with love and joy

  • OPC 028: Learning to Stand Up For Ourselves

Most of us try to get through our day-to-day lives as conflict free as possible, but when it gets to the point of compromising our needs to make others happy, we can become resentful and unhappy in our own lives. In certain situations it can feel awkward to assert ourselves, and being caught in tense situations can dredge up painful memories and insecurities, left unable to stand up for ourselves.

In this week's Recovery Coaching call, the group helped Samantha. Feeling stuck in a job she no longer feels fulfilled in, she is having trouble standing up to her husband about wanting to leave her job.

The group helped Samantha recognize a time when she first felt this way as a child. Growing up in a violent alcoholic home, she stayed quiet, vulnerable, and weak speaking up to authority. The group holds space and allows Samantha to feel anger, resentment, and process new emotions in order to allow her fully recognize her worth and begin the process of finding her voice and creating the life she truly wants.

In this week's recovery coaching call, you'll learn:

    • Signs you may be mitigating your own needs to keep others happy
    • Characteristics and thought patterns learned growing up in an alcoholic home
    • Ways to challenge common fears that may be holding you back

  • OPC 026: Learning how to Reparent Ourselves

It's human nature to feel overwhelmed. Stress is a survival mechanism telling our bodies to take a break. When we experience stress, we can get caught in a negative thought pattern. These thoughts feed into belief systems that create guilt and frustration and low self-esteem which can cause us to revert back to old patterns and behavior.

When we realize our parenting skills to ourselves have become skewed, our answers to why we continue to mitigate our own needs can be traced back to what we may not have received in childhood.

The process of learning how to reparent ourselves forces us to clarify our "whys" in multiple areas of our lives. It forces us to know ourselves, trust ourselves, and establish clear boundaries with others.

In this week's Recovery Coaching call, the group helped Stephanie. Feeling burnt out and swamped with school work, her negative self-talk has run rampant. The group also helped Jennifer. Having trouble setting clear boundaries with her adult daughter, she learns she must begin the reparenting process for herself before she can move forward in asking for her own needs.

In this week's recovery coaching call, you'll learn:

    • How we can get caught in a negative feedback loop even when we're not aware of it
    • The origin of negative belief systems
    • The importance of self-soothing
    • How a life coach can help you begin the process of reparenting
