The Omega Metroid Marathon is officially over, and after a fantastic but exhausting week, we're taking the week to recharge. Fear not though - this week will be a special treat, as in audio form is Andy's interview with AM2R creator Milton "DoctorM64" Guasti! Milton offers his thoughts, perspective, and memories making AM2R as we play through, so imagine this as a Directors Commentary cut, like the DVD days of old! Inspired By Metroid returns! In this episode, Andy and Gooey Fame are taking a look at one of the most unique Metroidvania's to come out in some time: Animal Well! This game, developed solo by Billy Basso, has you controlling an unnamed blob navigating a dense and rich world full of secrets, challenges, and, well, animals! We talk about the games unique atmosphere, it's similarities to Breath of the Wild and Super Metroid, the lack of combat, the games story presentation, the charming items, the never-ending secrets, and so much more!

Another year has passed by, and while there was no new Metroid games released in 2024, you can't say it was a quiet year for our favorite franchise! Zero Mission made its way to NSO, rumors of the Switch 2 dominated the year, and after 7 long years, we finally saw Metroid Prime 4! We review the year that was, and look ahead to 2025 and ask questions like when will the Switch 2 release, will Metroid Prime 4 be a cross-gen title, is there any hope still for Echoes and Corruption on the Switch, and so much more!

Our Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Anniversary month draws to a close this week as we take a deep dive (get it?) into one of the most atmospheric and haunting areas in the game: Torvus Bog! We examine the three distinct parts - upper Torvus Bog, Subterranean, and Dark Torvus Bog - and talk about our favorite rooms in the area, some of the most memorable expansions you can collect, the lore behind the area and its history as a forest, some of the notable bosses and enemies in the area, and a discussion on what might be one of the best musical remixes in the series!
