April 16, 2025 Episode 263 - Analyzing the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Treehouse Footage!
Andy and Doom return after another crazy week of news updates regarding Switch 2 pre-orders, tariffs, and games! We sort through it all and then take a look in depth at the Treehouse footage from last week, talking about the amazing opening cinematic, the text crawl, the standoff between Samus and Sylux, the artifact, and the Golem mechs! We lament over what could have been with Federation Force, speculate about the whereabouts of Samus's ship on Viewros, and analyze some key art to get an idea of what kind of landscape we could be in for!
We're back with story thoughts next week, so make sue you tag us with your best theories and speculation!

What a crazy week it has been. After that, we get down to the fun business and talk to Dak, who got a chance to get some hands on game time in New York at the Nintendo Switch 2 event! Dak gives us his impressions of the Switch 2, mouse controls, Mario Kart World, Drag x Drive, Donkey Kong Bananza, and of course, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond!
This is an episode you won't want to miss, so come and check out our thoughts on the Switch 2!

April 02, 2025 Episode 261 – Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Live Reaction + Discussion
WOW! Today was the day that Nintendo fans have been waiting for: The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and boy what a show we got! After months of anticipation since the January 18th reveal of the console and a lower key Switch 1 Direct last week to briefly tide us over, Nintendo finally delivered the megaton of Switch 2 information that we've been craving.
Among the key announcement were the price and release date, Mario Kart World, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, GameCube games coming to Nintendo Switch Online, loads of killer 3rd party titles, console specs, voice chat and screen sharing, options to upgrade your Switch 1 games - including Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and FINALLY, the confirmation of METROID PRIME 4: BEYOND – NINTENDO SWITCH 2 EDITION!
It's a Zelda Cast x Omega Metroid crossover, as Andy Spiteri, Doominal Crossing and Alasyn Eletha watch the Direct live and give their full comprehensive thoughts on the presentation.

March 27, 2025 Episode 260 - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's Latest Trailer: Our Reactions and Analysis!
WHOA! Well, in the span of 24 hours, we had a surprise Nintendo Direct announcement that promised to showcase Switch 1 titles, so of course, we all buckled up for the latest Metroid Prime 4 news, and the Direct delivered! While the overall quality of the Direct itself was debatable at best, the trailer shown for Beyond was awesome, introducing us to the new planet Viewros, new Psychic Abilities for Samus, new alien friends and foes, and a drop-dead gorgeous new suit for the Bounty Hunter. We go over and analyze, speculate, and theorize over the trailer, and as a special treat, we're joined by Dak for the first time in a while!

March 19, 2025 Episode 258 - Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus: Inspired By Metroid
Inspired By Metroid returns this week, as Andy and Zach get together to talk about a game somewhat light on Metroid references, but one with a deep connection to our community! Acclaimed developer of AM2R Milton Guasti joined Squid Shock Studios to make the wonderful Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, a Metroidvania that could best be described as Ōkami meets Hollow Knight, and this week, the guys get together and talk about what they like, areas they thought could be improved, the plethora of side quests and collectables, and so much more! If you're a fan of Metroidvania's, you'll want to check this one out!
Don't forget to visit us on April 2nd as we live stream the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct alongside Alasyn from the The Zelda Cast on TZC's Twitch channel!

March 12, 2025Episode 257 - Definitively Ranking Metroid Prime: Federation Force
fter a long layoff, Definitive Ranking returns, and this time we have our work cut out for us! We are tasked with ranking the most un-Metroid Metroid game there is, 2016's multiplayer spinoff Federation Force! We give the game it's due while talking about the deep customization options and solid gameplay and level design, while also unfortunately taking it to task for it's shortcomings in the music, story, and art style department. We're fair but forgiving, so come listen and see what you agree with!
Come play along, and as always, here’s the criteria for the Definitive Rankings:
World / Atmosphere (the vibe, the setting, the mood)
Art Style (design of Samus, the enemies, the graphics in general)
Story (what works, what doesn’t)
Pacing / Progression (are there any parts that really bog the player down, or is it still fun getting lost?)
Gameplay / “Gimmick” (what new or different gameplay aspects we like)
Items / Abilities (how are the powerups and are they cool and practical)
Areas (how does each individual area look, feel, play, etc.)
Enemies / Bosses (are they fun, creative, etc.)
Expansions / Powerups (are the expansions hidden throughout the world fun, creative, and enjoyable to collect?)
Music (are we humming along?)
Of course, all of these are subjective, and we’re putting our critics hats on, but we want to hear what you have to say on Bluesky!

Mapping Metroid returns to tackle a two in one special area from Metroid Prime 3: The G.F.S. Olympus and planet Norion! We talk the rooms, the expansions, the story and characters, the bombastic opening sequence, which is half Halo, half James Bond, and of course the incredible falling shaft battle with Meta Ridley!
Come and revisit one of the more underappreciated areas from Corruption with us!
