Omega Metroid Podcast

As November comes to a close, so does our month-long coverage on the 20th anniversary of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. To conclude this month of content, we're busting out an old gem from the early days of the Definitive Ranking series - WITH A TWIST! Echoes was ranked before Doominal Crossing joined the podcast, meaning he never got a say on this legendary title. Today, Doom takes the driver's seat to host a mega review along with 3 special guests making their debut on the pod; Doeboy, Trav Guy & ThatMetroidGuy! Together, this fully assembled Metroid squad take on the definitive ranking gauntlet FOR OVER 2 HOURS in an effort to redetermine Echoes' placement amongst the greats. Join us for this special grand finale event!

All of this plus talking about the newly announced Metroid Prime 1-3: Visual Retrospective and why we're all hyped for it!

FINAL SCORES:

Doominal Crossing - 4.6 / 5

Doeboy - 3.9 / 5

Trav Guy - 4.1 / 5

ThatMetroidGuy - 4.2 / 5

Andy and Dak are finally reunited, and talking that Metroid just like old time! We have a breezy show this week, as we talk about Nintendo's confirmation Switch 2 will be backwards compatible and NSO will transfer over, go over the updated Dread and Prime sales numbers, speculate on when we'll see Switch 2 revealed and what the consoles gimmick will be (if any!), plus talk about what Metroid needs to do to appeal to a wider audience.

Come hang out with, and get ready - next week kicks off a full month of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes coverage!

With Halloween right around the corner, we thought that would be cool to take a spin around the world of Metroid and talk about the scariest areas and monsters, PLUS some areas that should have been scary, but unfortunately, were not. We go over areas such as the Wrecked Ship, GFS Valhalla, and Genetics Laboratory, cover monsters like the Nightmare, Corpius, and Experiment Z-57, and talk about the lack of dread in Metroid Dread and what we might have changed in the E.M.M.I. zones.

All this, PLUS we go over our favorite Halloween games! Come hang out with us, and happy Halloween!

There are tons of great Metroid ideas out there, but there are just as many bad ones, if not more! This week on the show, Dak and Doom found a fun thread online that has some of the worst ideas they've seen for a Metroid game. How bad are these ideas, and are some of them so bad that they're...actually good? Tune in and check out our thoughts on these ideas, then let us know -- what are your worst Metroid ideas ever?!

Metroid Manga in Review returns! This time, we're talking about the third, and for our money, best volume of the manga so far! Our heroes are taking on a whole slew of enemies, including rival bounty hunters, Galactic Federation detectives, a secret arms dealer organization, and an incredible new big bad revealed at the end! We go over the artwork, including the famous shot of Samus in her cloak, the story beats, our thoughts on the growth of the series and the anime, and where the final issue could be headed!

All of the Samus & Joey manga have been faithfully translated by our pals at Metroid Database, so make sure to check them and their manga section out so you can read for yourself!

Everybody's favorite game in the Metroid universe is back! After almost two whole years, the whole band is back together to play "Guess That Metroid Character", and this time, we've activated FUSION DIFFICULTY, limiting ourselves to only TEN yes or no questions to determine the character! Watch as Doom pulls out some deep cuts, Andy and Dak struggle to co-exist, non-cannon Metroid stuff enters the fray, and more chicanery ensures! Think you can do better than we did? Play along with us over on Discord and social!

All this, PLUS our thoughts on the sequel to Alien Isolation being announced and our new Metroid II: Return of Samus guide is live!

After a lengthy layoff, Inspired By Metroid returns! The recently released Castlevania Dominus Collection gave Andy an excuse to jump back into one of his favorite Metroidvania's of all time - Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow! Andy's joined by ex-Bungie visual designer Andrew Elmore to talk Dawn of Sorrow and its incredible Soul system, the crazy amount of customization for your gameplay available, the disappointing art style change from Aria of Sorrow, the incredible bosses, the modern story setting and Soma Cruz as a protagonist, the incredible areas and bosses, Castlevania's best ever post game mode (you can play as Alucard!!), and how the Souls system could potentially influence the direction that Metroid 6 takes!

Come hang out with us as we chat new and old school Castlevania PLUS check out Andrew's portfolio!

In a sequel / update to one of our earliest episodes on the podcast, we're revisiting a fun topic: ranking the best final bosses in the series! Doom wasn't around for the first episode four years ago, and Andy's tastes have certainly evolved and changed over the years, so we're going game by game to decide on which final showdown is tops among them all! From Mother Brain to Raven Beak, Dark Samus to the Queen Metroid, every one of them is ranked, so let us know what you agree and disagree with!

All this, PLUS some DLC drops for Prince and Persia and Inspired By Metroid RETURNS next next week!
