This week I have turned the tables on Gemma Dale from Nabtrade and I get to ask the questions and Gemma gets to do the talking. For those of you who are not familiar with Gemma, she is the director of SMSF and investor behaviour at Nabtrade. In this episode we discuss what retails investors are doing in the market? Which stocks are in vogue? How the Buy the Dip mentality is alive and well and why volumes are fading a little as the market heads higher.
We finish with the best advice Gemma was ever given. By her Dad and it holds true. Smart man.

In this episode of On the Couch, Henry catches up with Bernard Rowe from Ioneer (INR)
Bernard Rowe has been the managing director since August 2007. He has more than 25 years’ international experience in mineral exploration and mine development. His diverse mineral industry experience includes gold, copper, zinc, diamond, lithium and boron exploration in Australia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America.
The company listed in 2007 with a focus on gold and copper exploration in Nevada and Peru.
In early 2016, he visited a little-known lithium-boron deposit in southern Nevada – later to be renamed Rhyolite Ridge.
Many members have been interested in the Rhyolite Ridge project (Lithium/Boron) with much focus on the Tiem's Buckwheat environmental issue. This is something we discuss at great length.
We also talk the whole lithium process and the different types of lithium and their attractions.
It is a wide ranging discussion and very interesting for anyone who is looking at the lithium market.
Well worth listening to with INR as a lithium stock we have added in the Small Cap Portfolio recently.

In our last 'On the Couch' session for 2021 this week, we head to Spain and we sit down with Ignacio Salazar from Highfield Resources (HFR). We are talking potash. A commodity that has had a stellar year but no one seems to have noticed. BHP is driving ahead with its potash investment in Canada and clearly see potential for the commodity.
Ignacio Salazar is the CEO of Highfield and importantly born in the Basque region of Spain and brings local knowledge to the project as 2022 looks to be an interesting year after permitting issues have now been resolved.
Plenty of potential as Ignacio brings this project on stream and with a simple mining process, long mine life, promising cost structure, plus strong interest in the funding, HFR is set for an interesting 2022.
Ignacio Salazar is an international executive with more than 30 years of experience in the natural resources industry. He has lived and worked in various countries in Europe and South America. Ignacio assumed the position of CEO of Highfield in July 2020, after coming from Orosur Mining, a Canadian gold mining company with operations in Colombia, Uruguay and Chile, which is listed in the London and Toronto stock markets, and in which he worked as CEO and CFO for 12 years.

It has been an action packed year for VUL with two recent deals adding to the story and $320m raised in 2021, and of course a short seller attack from JCap, just to make things interesting.
Members will be familiar with VUL from plenty of commentary in the newsletter over the year and we hold it in the Small Cap Portfolio.
2022 is going to be another interesting year as Dr Wedin heads to the UK to oversee the companies ambition to become a significant zero carbon lithium and geothermal energy provider.
Dr Wedin has a PhD in Exploration Geology and more importantly an MBA in Renewable Energy. Great insights and MT is delighted to bring you this exclusive podcast.

From feeling physically sick after being wiped out by the tech wreck to becoming one of the most well-known and respected traders in Australia, best-selling author Stuart McPhee sits down with Chris Conway to talk about his incredible stock trading journey.
From Stuart’s time in the military and how that impacted his stock trading, to understanding the importance of discipline and overcoming adversity, this hour-long interview is not to be missed for anyone who is serious about understanding what it takes to be successful in the market.
For those who are unfamiliar with Stuart McPhee, he is a well-known trader and author of the book, Trading in a Nutshell, now on its fourth edition. For the last 20 years, Stuart has regularly been invited to speak to traders all around the world. From Mumbai to New York, Tokyo to London, Melbourne to Beijing, Stuart has presented to tens of thousands of budding traders.
Following the success of Stuart’s previous course, Technical Analysis for Investors, we have invited him back to construct an even more in-depth course covering all things stock trading. The course is not just charts and technical analysis (although there is plenty of that), it also covers the mindset required to be a successful trader, how to manage risk, setting stop losses, the importance of a plan, performance monitoring, and so much more.
The course will be launched with eight completed modules, followed by two new modules each week (on average), for the next 30 weeks – well over 60 modules in total and a summation of the 30 years of experience Stuart has accumulated in markets.
If you are serious about stock trading and markets in general, then this could be considered required learning. Stuart’s new course launches here on Friday 3 December 2021.
This week On the Couch I have Andrew 'The Whisperer' Wielandt (DP Wealth) on again. Time to face the music and get some expert feedback on the NEAT ETF Portfolio.
Many members will know of Andrew's work and contribution, I do a show with him every fortnight on Ausbiz and he is one of the few independent experts in the space.
I asked him some time ago if he would provide some input into the new portfolio, he agreed and now he gives his advice and opinion on how I have gone building the portfolio.
Fair to say its a work in progress and his input is valuable and I will be taking on board his advice.
It's a fun episode as always with Andrew and his knowledge never ceases to amaze me. If you have an interest in the brave new world of ETFs, its a highly recommended.
