In this episode of Once you know, you know!, I talk about the common misconception that "not eating enough" is the reason behind stalled weight loss efforts.
The concept of caloric deficits and how weight loss fundamentally boils down to consuming fewer calories than the body expends. However, sustained caloric restriction can lead to metabolic adaptation, where the body adjusts by slowing down metabolism, making further weight loss challenging which is a little more complex than assuming your body is going into "starvation mode"
I also discuss the psychological aspects, highlighting how strict calorie deficits can trigger feelings of deprivation, social pressures, and emotional eating tendencies. These factors can undermine adherence to a calorie deficit and lead to unsustainable eating habits.
I explain the importance of muscle mass in weight loss success, explaining how muscle tissue burns more calories at rest and during exercise, contributing to faster fat loss. However, severe calorie restriction can lead to loss of lean muscle mass, further complicating weight loss efforts.
By understanding these complexities and adopting sustainable lifestyle changes, individuals can achieve their weight loss goals effectively and maintain long-term success.
n this episode I shed light on what cellulite is, why it happens, and most importantly, the choices we can make to address it (it's not a cream or magic pill). Cellulite is a concern for many women. I break down cellulite formation, explaining how factors like genetics, hormones, and lifestyle contribute to its appearance. Rather than viewing cellulite as a flaw, I emphasise understanding it as a natural occurrence influenced by various factors. By embracing this perspective, we can approach an very common occurance with empowerment and informed decision-making.
In this episode, I dive into the intricate relationship between stress, anxiety, and weight management, particularly focusing on fat loss. As busy women aiming for fat loss, it's crucial to understand how stress and anxiety impact our bodies and our results.

Diving into why defining what's important to you when it comes to diet and lifestyle can help form the basis of your long term decisions. Through this I explore trending topics and documentaries I've been getting asked about and what takeaways it might be helpful to know in working out what your next steps are. Finally I round off by giving you a good mindset shift that can help you stay committed in 2024 to whatever your goals are.
It's pretty common for women to use self deprecating humour to cover something up they are insecure about, fear they will be judged on, or to feel better about their choices.
This isn't helpful for your self esteem or your confidence labelling yourself as something that probably isn't true. It also makes it harder for you to believe that you CAN achieve what you want and exhibit behaviour change.
I used to all myself the 70% girl, near enough was good enough and soon enough that transferred into so many areas of my life...even down to leaving 1 or 2 items wet in the washing machine, or 1 dish in the sink unwashed after I'd just done a whole bunch... I'd laugh off my inability to finish what I started. So that became a belief I played into every single time....until it wasn't funny to me anymore.
I want you to feel strong, empowered and confident, girl math doesn't do that. It implies you're not in control of your choices, your finances, or that you need an excuse to justify your choice....a confident women doesn't need that...she already knows.
Have a listen to this episode and see how this plays into your behaviour patterns and how you CAN indeed change, when you change your beliefs and thoughts.
