  • 161. What's Emotional Contagion? How to Manage It.
Emotional contagion is when your emotion passes on to someone else, knowingly or unknowingly. (This is possible even over a Zoom call!) Research shows these experiences affect not only your mood, also your judgment and business decisions.
This episode provides five tips on how to reduce negative emotional contagion, and the ability to leverage positive emotions, too.
Your One Bold Move: Be aware of how negative emotions affect others. The productivity and collaboration of your team depends on it.

  • 160. Making New Friends During a Pandemic
In a completely virtual world, it’s not as easy to meet new people. We’re not going to the same places where we would have met people in the past and six feet distance makes it hard to have a personal conversation. That said, this time has allowed us to be more creative about how we build connections. And it’s been more important than ever before: To remind us we’re not alone and that we add value to the world. I’ve developed several meaningful friendships in this pandemic, which have added to my life in important ways, and I want to help you do this, too.
Your One Bold Move: Make new friends, even now. It will make this time a lot more meaningful and fun.

  • 159. Show Up Compassionately for Others (Without Getting Burned Out)
During a recent conversation with a friend, she asked if I had any advice for how to remain empathetic to others without burning out. She confided in me that she was having a hard time managing her energy while supporting other friends and colleagues who were all going through their own difficult experiences, in addition to the pandemic.
I acknowledged that it was indeed a lot, and because I care about her, I encouraged her to protect space for herself, too.
I know this personally. As a manager and friend, I had previously burned out from feeling what others felt through everything they shared with me.
Here's my advice on showing up compassionately for others as a leader, colleague, friend, and caregiver.
Your One Bold Move: Show up for others--and yourself--with compassion.

  • 158. Have the Important Conversation
Who are you putting off an important conversation with?
Sometimes we put off conversations because they will stretch us, other times because they may be difficult.
This episode provides tips on how to prepare for an important conversation, and why you shouldn’t put it off or delay.
Your One Bold Move: Have the important conversation. At the very least, reach out to schedule it. There’s no better time to move forward things that matter.

  • 157. Confidence at Every Stage of Your Career
Throughout my career, there have been points in time when I’ve felt unsure of myself.
It has generally happened as I’ve entered each new stage in my career. When you start something for the first time, it’s normal to feel uncertain—this is also where your greatest growth opportunities are. You level up when you take on a new challenge and figure out how to work through fear.
Here’s what I wish I had known about confidence at different stages in my career--and I want to help you achieve this for yourself.
Your One Bold Move: Build your confidence at every stage of your career. Confidence is taking action to move you closer to your potential.

This episode provides tips on why you should share your failures to help others learn and be more relatable as a leader and colleague.
Your One Bold Move: Share one of your mistakes, and what you learned as a result, with your team or someone you mentor. Help provide them with the pathway to be successful for the future.

  • 155. Virtual Icebreakers That Actually Work
We're all searching for ways to replace the interactions that would have happened more naturally in the work environment, and we want to do it in a way that feels authentic. It's possible to do this with thoughtful planning (and still leave time for the actual group dialogue for which you gathered).
This episode provides nine of my favorite icebreaker questions that actually work, as well as tips to ensure the activity is a success for any size group.
Your One Bold Move: Introduce an icebreaker question to one of your upcoming meetings to build positive team connections, trust, and meaningful employee engagement.

  • 153. What's the Best That Can Happen?
We spend so much time worrying about worst case scenarios. We envision all of the things that can go wrong. We talk ourselves out of our bold moves.
But what if the best possible thing happens?
This episode provides tips on how to reframe your mindset--and why doing this is vulnerable.
Your One Bold Move: When facing an important decision or conversation, be sure to spend time considering the best that can happen, too.
