One Life Left

Because, in life, that's all it ever really boils down to: fruit or vegetable? Trust me. This week there's drama at Rockstar x2, Switch 2 (still) sells a lot and Remake Vs Remaster... FIIIIIIGHT!

Meanwhile Simon reads a book and Ste goes national (with maybe a little bit of 6-7ing on the side) before the boys have a brief disagreement over the length of the show! AND learn the origin of The Undercaretaker! Dun dun duuuun!!

THERE'S ANOTHER MARAOKE COMING UP!!! Make sure you get along to this one and take a friend because it's a duet special. Or, make a friend there and sing a duet with them! Or just sing a regular song, I don't think duets are mandatory... Anyway, it's on Friday 21st November at Loading Bar, Stoke Newington, London, and you can get your tickets here: https://luma.com/kuk1yz28

This episode finally gets released despite Bezos' best attempts to take us down last week! Today we have next Xbox speculation, Atari bring their competition back from the dead, McD x SF and Waze goes Sonic.

We also have Simon breaking down the "grey" market and Ste accidentally getting involved with spies.

Keep those letters rolling into us at [email protected] or join our Discord and leave a letter for us on there. Link below!

Hello and welcome to another episode of One Life Left! There's no super special guest this week but there's still LOTS of good stuff including the Switch 2 selling loads, MS denying that stores are ditching Xbox, Nintendo sparking Pikmin speculation and the majority of US gamers don't buy many games - according to some stats!

We also have Simon reporting back from IndieDevDay 2025 in Barcelona, despite eating a dodgy burger, Ste reporting on last week's Maraoke, game dev struggles, auteurs in game dev and good games journalism and is it all connected?!? No, not the dodgy burger but all the other stuff. Maybe.

The letters have been brilliant recently so PLEASE keep them coming to [email protected] or hop over into our Discord and drop us a letter there. Link below!

Dan Marshall put out a call and we answered that call for this week Dan joins us as our SSG! He's here talking all things Earth Must Die including influences , rubbing shoulders with comedians and dealing with Ste's puritanical Steam feed!

We also have the MS Game Pass price hike, Lego Gameboys, Amazon Spring clean their game service yet again and Charlesbot writes a K-pop song!

There's still time for YOU to get tickets for our next Maraoke event on Friday 10th October at Loading Bar, N16 0PH. Get them here: https://maraoke.com/booknow

Had this episode been released closer to Halloween, and/or I been a braver person, I would've given it the title "Grave Reads" because this week our Super Special Guest is none other than Sam Read-Graves, creator of the ONLY trolley problem themed video game worth YOUR time, funnily enough called Trolley Problem Inc. Sam is here to talk about development of his new game Task Time as well as how to not blow the budget when going to GDC.

He's probably also very happy that I'm a wimp and decided not to go with my initial episode title.

Meanwhile we have confessions, EA buyouts, GDC renames and Nintendo pop-ups! The Pickaxe Week 2025 edition of One Life Left IS still available HERE for those of you so inclined to check it out!

The next Maraoke event is on Friday 10th October at Loading Bar, N16 0PH. You'll be wanting to buy your tickets here: https://maraoke.com/booknow

Bosched it is a new technical term invented by Ste and we want everyone to start using this until we start to hear it everywhere. Write in and give us some ideas as to the finer points of what it actually means.

Meanwhile, this episode, we have Team OLL going on a ramble, Borderlands 4 hiccups, Lenovo Legion being too popular, fans resurrecting The Crew, EA release another footie game and Sega are still taking digs at Nintendo all these years on...

If you are bothering to read this then, yep, the OLL appearance on the Yogscast Twitch channel for Pickaxe Week 2025 was... yesterday! However, until it disappears you can still catch it as a "recent broadcast" on Twitch HERE (and I might get the all clear to turn it into a bonus episode in future - I think it was quite a good show, anyway!)

Don't forget we have a Maraoke event in October and you can get your tickets here: https://maraoke.com/booknow

Hello! By the time you read these notes (does anyone?!) I will already be on holiday and, as I still have to pack(!) these notes will be 'short' and 'sweet'!

This week we're 'joined' by SSG Ste Curran! Here to finally name the secret game he's been mentioning for ages whilst inventing a whole new games genre (sub-genre?) and to generally co-host the show!

Speaking of games! Here are some very important links that I'm contractually obligated to post:

Simon's upcoming game releases:
The Royal Writ (I've played this and it is very good!)
Monster Mop Up
Ste's upcoming game releases:
Mindset GO! (no link yet, sorry folks. Coming soon!)

Beyond that there's also something about cruising for Disney princesses, some news, reviews and a letter about some bloke called Simski Byrite coming back to haunt Simon (link to relevant article might appear on our Discord but it is on the internet for anyone interested to search for...)

Hope you have a great summer holiday and please do send your digital postcards and general tomfoolery to us at [email protected] or join our Discord keep in touch there. Link below!
