One Life Left

Content warning: This week there is blood. There may also be some gore but that's all down to how good/bad your imagination is.

In this week's episode Simon gives out sound financial advice that could help fund your gaming addicition and Ste tries to cut off his own finger - not on air! We also cover Gamepass being under fire yet again, Hideo Kojima wants to go into orbit, AI uh oh, Nintendo Direct speculation and DK Bananza dev revealed...

There is also GTA6. There are also "exclusives". Make of that what you will.

What are the greatest lengths you've gone to to save money on a video game? And who has to update Bang Man!?? Let us know at [email protected] or join our Discord and let us know on there. Link below!

Life can be difficult, is often cruel and, sometimes, far too short. Be sure to take at least 10 minutes to do something that makes you smile this week, dear listeners. This one's for you, Ellie. Bottoms.

Content warning: There was some swearing in this episode. Don't worry, it has been replaced by BLEEEEEEPs but I'm giving you a heads up now so that your imagination doesn't run too wild upon hearing those BLEEEEEEPs. I've kept the un-BLEEEEEEPed version in case anyone wants to pay good money for such filth in future. Also, apologies for any mouse-clicks and chair-squeaking that could be heard on recent episodes. I'll start the rumour now: I add those noises in to hide the fact that the show has been entirely done by AI for the past, I dunno, 5 years? Yeah, go with that.

Anyway, welcome to our Glastonbury 2025 coverage episode! This week our intrepid hosts tackle the Xbox multiplatform strategy, PEAK selling millions, dbrand's Switch 2 blunder, Netflix culling games and a potential Black Flag remake. There's also a plan for Japan, Randy Pitchford speaks, Barcode Battler gets the briefest of mentions, Simon plays Switch 2 with other Dads in a park and Ste reveals his love of toilet roll. Sorry.

The boys also take a serious (no, really) look at networking at game

Going to Develop 2025 in Brighton next week? Got anything planned for Thursday 10th July? Well, you do now! Maraoke are 'doing' the End of Develop Party and you can get your tickets right HERE.

Is life, the universe and everything easier to explain than the 'fun' value of Mario Kart? We might have the answers within...

Hello dear listeners! Welcome back to another episode of One Life Left. This week we're joined by none other than Hannah Flynn of Failbetter Games, here to discuss new game, Mandrake, and seagull violence as well as to tell us how an intrepid group of game devs turned to cannibalism whilst on an adventure down a cave, looking for the magic rocks of Bleu Jaune! Honest!

We also have Summer Games Fest 2025 shenanigans, Build a Rocket Boy shenanigans, Sony trying to look the best shenanigans, Microsoft and

This week Simon is still in pain and Ste learns that football can still hurt you, though he's learned to love Vampire Survivors. For now. We also have Doom pizza, Fortnite's sweary Vader, Kojima's USB stick, some Gears of War movie stuff and GTA Paisley needs YOU...

Meanwhile The Art of Video Game Design covers seasonal content and FOMO and a reminder that the next Maraoke 'out in the wild' will be on Friday 13th June at Loading Bar - tickets available HERE

There's a section in this week's episode that I could've cut but I've kept in for humour value, see if you can spot it. Today we're joined by Friend Of The Show and SSG extraordinaire Tony Gowland of Ant Workshop, here to talk about Into The Restless Ruins (out tomorrow!!) and the current trials and tribulations of game development. We also have Microsoft selling well on PlayStation, console price hikes, Nintendo Game-Key Card-criticism, Ste isn't impressed with the GTA6 trailer and Simon is still in pain, yet also still intoxicating!

Meanwhile The Art of Video Game Design covers push notifications and the next open world Maraoke will be on Friday 13th June (lucky for some...) at Loading Bar - tickets are available HERE

CONTENT WARNING - This show includes a sports massage. Not, like, as a free gift for you, though something could be arranged, maybe. Let's not completely rule that out right this minute. Anyway, no, it's a descriptive thing. One of our intrepid hosts finds himself needing of some physio so gets a sports massage. From two ladies. Both called Sophie. Look, if that sounds far fetched then don't blame me, I'm just giving you a heads up. The word "buttocks" is used. If that's the kind of thing that offends then, I dunno, start the show 10 minutes in. That's a rough guess as once this gets uploaded and ads are thrown in the mix my timings go straight out the window but 10 minutes should be safe...

Beyond that, welcome to the latest episode of One Life Left! This week there's still no Super Special Keef but we have a jam packed show that includes potential Nintendo Game-Key Card shenanigans, the Post Trauma of releasing a game in the shadow of Oblivion, a footy game doing well (and it isn't PES, FIFA, EA, SWOS, Kick Off nor even Emlyn Hughes International Soccer!), Simon has a "hack" for getting cheaper Switch 2 upgrades and we ponder over an Outrun movie.

We also have Ste reporting back on his recent trips to Switzerland and Reboot in Croatia, including all the gossip and The Art of Video Game Design covers delayed gratification!

For some reason our mailbag is bare. Barren. Bereft of letters/emails/offers of cash. Only YOU can change this, dear listeners. Our lives and/or sanity may depend on your correspondence so PLEASE write to us at [email protected] or join our Discord, chat amongst other OLL dignitaries and leave a letter for us on there. This week Ste takes over summer and Simon is 'fine'. We don't have an SSG but we do have two men trying to find something on Steam 'live' on air! Ste made yet more games

Star Wars: Hunters is being switched off (and it's not even been out a year...)

There was a Phil Harrison jest at GDC

An old game that was awful is being remade for reasons

Undertale is selling well again

Lego is doing a Pokémon (or vice versa)

The boys have no FOMO over missing GDC (and has it had it's day...?)
