    Binaural Beets
When you hear two tones, one in each ear, that are slightly different in frequency, your brain processes a beat at the difference of the frequencies. This is called a binaural beat.Let’s say you’re listening to a sound in your left ear that’s at a frequency of 132 Hertz (Hz). And in your right ear, you’re listening to a sound that’s at a frequency of 121 Hz. Your brain, however, gradually falls into synchrony with the difference — or 11 Hz. Instead of hearing two different tones, you instead hear a tone at 11 Hz (in addition to the two tones given to each ear).
Binaural beats are considered auditory illusions. For a binaural beat to work, the two tones have to have frequencies less than 1000 Hz, and the difference between the two tones can’t be more than 30 Hz. The tones also have to be listened to separately, one through each ear. Binaural beats have been explored in music and are sometimes used to help tune instruments, such as pianos and organs. More recently, they have been connected to potential health benefits.

Maura Davies is here to talk about SPCA of Texas pet caring for pets in freezing temperatures.
Faraz Khan is here to talk about how to reduce scarring.
    So let’s get started!
    Maura Davies
Maura Davies is the Vice President for Marketing & Communications at the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of Texas. As a longtime friend of One Life Radio, Maura is with us almost every Friday!
Caring For Pets In Freezing Temperatures
Bernadette talks about a cat that her daughter found dead where she feeds a colony of stray cats. Bernadette's daughter took the deceased cats to the vet to be identified for gender and and chip. His name was Willie and he was only ten months old. Willie froze to death. The cat's real owners contacted Bernadette's daughter and the owners did not want the ashes. It was very sad, but rather a grim reminder to keep your animals inside. Symptoms of animals suffering from hypothermia is shivering, pale grey gums, lethargy, dilated pupils, and collapsing. If your dog or cat has any of these symptoms, take them to the vet immediately. Please keep your animals inside.
Dogs sensitive to cold should be kept inside with quick potty breaks outside. The small dogs and short haired breeds benefit from a doggy jacket that helps to keep their core warm. Booties may also be a good idea as lots of heat escapes through a dogs foot pads. With cats, please keep them inside or if they or indoor outdoor allow them a shelter like the ones here.
Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. Now in practice for decades in the US after being proven in Europe, scientific studies show that Trap-Neuter-Return improves the lives of feral cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time.

Faraz Khan is a former computer scientist turned longevity educator, speaker and biohacker. Seeing his parents age before his eyes prompted Faraz to dive headfirst into the world of anti-aging and longevity. Faraz turned from helping large media, life sciences and pharma companies to helping everyday people beat back the scourge of aging. He launched his podcast "Anti-Aging Hacks" in 2019 where he interviews the top minds in longevity, anti-aging and health. Faraz is also the host of a yearly Anti-Aging Summit.
    How To Reduce Scarring
Faraz Khan suffered a horrible oil incident at 8 years old that made him form a large scar. Faraz discovered that over the past 15 years, all the scientific advancements, studies of older populations and a vastly improved understanding of our biology, have resulted in exciting information on how to slow down the aging process today – and turn back our biological clock by many years, and get back the energy, skin, hormones we had many years ago. Episode 1433 | Nicole Apelian
The Healing Power Of Plant Medicine
    Episode 1433
    Nicole Apelian
Dr. Nicole Apelian is an herbalist, a biologist, a survival TV celebrity, an anthropologist, a survival skills instructor, and a mother. Nicole was a challenger on the second and fifth seasons of the History Channel’s TV series “Alone”, where she thrived in the wilderness totally solo with little more than her knife and her wits.
She is also the author of two books, "The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies: The Healing Power of Plant Medicine and A Reference Guide to Surviving Nature: Outdoor Preparation and Remedies." Her latest book, "Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods: Edible Plants, Lichens, Mushrooms and Seaweeds will be available this Spring."
The Healing Power of Plant Medicine
Nicole has always had a love for the outdoors. With a bug collection, a nest collection, and a rock collection, her love for outdoor medicine was fueled by her MS diagnosis. For Nicole, herbal medicine is a life saver. Her daily go to is a combination for three mushroom. Lion’s mane mushroom, also known as Hericium erinaceus, is known to boost cognitive function and stimulate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), proteins that play a pivotal role in the development and the maintenance of neurons. Studies show great potential for myelination and regeneration of nerves. Nicole takes this (along with the Turkey Tail and Reishi Mushroom Extracts) daily as her mushroom trio.
You do not have to take these three mushrooms though. Nicole has been taking her anxiety blend as well daily as well as an added elderberry boost. For preventing general illness (which causes the dreaded immune response that then causes MS to flare up) I rely on my healing trinity of Elderberry Tincture, Usnea Spray, and All-Purpose (First Aid) Salve. (I also make each of these items myself, and have made them available individually or all together in a Travel Pack from my Apothecary.)

Ryan Casey Waller and Jackie Schlegel

Today we have Ryan Casey Waller, Author of “Depression, Anxiety, And Other Things We Don’t Want To Talk About,” and Jackie Schlegel, Executive Director for Texans For Vaccine Choice.”

    Jackie Schlegel

Jackie is excited to be here! She knows that these are heavy subject. But that she, along side One Life Radio need to bring clarity to the US Population and the world. Jackie became incredibly passionate about vaccine choice with the birth of her first child 20 years ago. Bernadette says with her first daughter, she took the time to research, but not everyone has that luxury of time, so having the right to choose is important.

Texans for Vaccine Choice is excited by the scientific and medical advancements that have been made in an effort to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. The emergence of effective therapies and treatments brings hope and reassurance during what has been a trying and uncertain time. Following Bill Gates’ proposal for ‘digital certificates’ proving a person has been vaccinated against the coronavirus, Attorney General William Barr said he was ‘very concerned about the slippery slope in terms of continuing encroachments on personal liberty. Gates says that to use his vaccine to vaccinate the entire population, manufacturers will need indemnification to be protected from liability lawsuits

    Ryan Casey Waller

Ryan Casey Waller is a licensed psychotherapist, lawyer, and pastor who has heard all the jokes about being both lawyer and priest. He studied philosophy and religion at the University of Southern California before pursuing a law degree, a masters in theology, and a masters in counseling from Southern Methodist University. Ryan practiced law before turning to a career in ministry, serving in both academic and ecclesial settings. He is now in private practice in Dallas. You can find his latest book, “Depression, Anxiety, and Other Things We Don’t Want to Talk About” on amazon.com.

Feel however you feel. There is no should or should not with feelings. Abundant living is not driving a Range Rover according to Ryan. Live authentically for who you are, and find peace in that. Do you have to love yourself before you love anyone else. Abundant life is being able to be at peace with yourself. Human beings are more resilient than we aren’t resilient.

  • #1431, Chris Gronkowski, Zen Honeycutt, Moms Across America

    Happy Monday!

We have Zen Honeycutt from Moms Across America at the half, so stick around. Christ Gronkowski is back to discuss fitness myths. Bernadette and Junior talk about football. We have a great show for you this week and are so ready to bring you a new, great, live show! So, let's get started!

    Zen Honeycutt

Zen Honeycutt is an activist, speaker, author, and the founder and director of Moms Across America, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and empower mothers and others with actions and solutions to create healthy communities. While heading Moms Across America, Zen initiated the first testing for glyphosate in tap water, breast milk, and urine and spearheaded the non-profit’s successful petition to Costco to remove Roundup from their shelves. She is the author of “UNSTOPPABLE: Transforming Sickness and Struggle into Triumph, Empowerment And A Celebration of Community.”

    Moms Across America, Glyphosate

Glyphosate exposure is weakening our immune systems, increasing symptom severity from COVID, and contributing to our national shutdown and economic crisis. The federal EPA is currently accepting comments regarding whether or not to revoke the license of glyphosate (or merely restrict its use) based on their assessment of harm to endangered species. Their initial report claims that the 280 million pounds used per year on agriculture have no impact on endangered species. Only the landscaping use (20 million pounds) harms them. This is false. They have now reported that Glyphosate harms mammals.

Unfortunately, glyphosate is still available in stores. You can go to big supermarkets right now and purchase products like RoundUp. Your voice counts. Every email to your local government matters and they add up to sending a huge message to consumers! You have to go to the EPA and tell them glyphosate is not just harming landscaping, but it's harming agriculture, humans, and our future.

    Chris Gronkowski

Chris Gronkowski is the owner and inventor of the Ice Shaker, vacuum insulated bottles that hold ice for over 30 hours. He first made a career for himself as a professional football player, joining the NFL in 2010 after being signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a fullback. During his years in the NFL, Gronkowski also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. Now, with the help of his four brothers, Chris Gronkowski puts all of his energy into running Ice Shaker, continuously updating the product line while improving the experience of protein shakers everywhere.

    Fitness Myths Debunked

Lifting weights does not make you bulky! When you workout, just cardio is not going to help you tone up. You need to supplement with weight lifting as well. Dynamic stretching is something that people often miss or forget about when working out. You can not get a six pack just doing abs. Fat is stored all over the body, but if you want to reduce fat in one spot, you have to workout the whole body. If you have belly fat, you want to do weights and cardio combination, at a lower pace. When you do cardio, Chris Gronkowski says you need to keep your heart rate lower when you do cardio so you do not lose muscle.

There really is not a perfect time during the day or night to work out. Whatever fits into your schedule is what is best for your body and fitness. Chris studied a lot about hydration in college. At the end of the day, it is simply water. Water is the best way to get hydrated, and it is the best thing to drink during a workout. Get yourself into a grateful mindset every morning.

  • #1430, Von Eaglin, Jared Moffat, Marijuana Policy Project

    Happy Thursday!

We have Jared Moffat From The Marijuana Policy Project talking about his organization. Von Eaglin is here to talk about friends in relationships. It has been a long week without live radio, so we are ready to deliver to you! We have a great show for you today, so let's get started?

    Jared Moffat

Jared has been working to change marijuana laws since 2012 when he was an undergraduate at Brown University, helping to organize students to successfully decriminalize marijuana possession in Rhode Island. He joined the Marijuana Policy Project, or MPP, in 2014 as Rhode Island political director, Jared helped build an influential statewide coalition, Regulate Rhode Island, with the goal of legalizing marijuana like alcohol. He played a role in the 2016 Massachusetts legalization campaign as field director, and he was part of teams that successfully passed Michi- gan’s 2018 ballot initiative to legalize marijuana for adults as well as Utah’s 2018 medical marijuana measure. Most recently, Jared played a central role in the successful 2020 ballot initiative campaigns in Montana for adult-use legalization and South Dakota for legalization of both medical and adult-use marijuana.

    Marijuana Policy Project

The mission of The Marijuana Policy Project is simple. MPP’s mission is to change federal law to allow states to determine their own marijuana policies without federal interference, to allow the medical use of cannabis in all 50 states and U.S. territories, and to regulate marijuana like alcohol. The Marijuana Policy Project changes laws and lives for the better. They activate people and mobilize resources to create lasting policy solutions that improve the quality of life for patients and their families, empower individuals with personal choice, combat injustices, and promote equality.

Marijuana prohibition has failed in many ways. The goal of marijuana prohibition closely mimics that of when we prohibited alcohol in the early 1920's. Prohibition hasn't made it safer to access marijuana, but rather making it more dangerous for those states that have not legalized it. Fortunately, we are in an era that can study the affects of marijuana, thc, and cbd on the the brain and body.

    Von Eaglin

Von Eaglin is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and works with two group practices in the Dallas area. He is a certified couple relationship trainer and sees a wide range of clients addressing men’s issues, anger management, abuse, and addiction; just to name a few. Eaglin is also a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas in the Counseling and Higher Education Department. His Ph.D. research focuses on on couple relationships dialogue.

You can find him at his website or follow him on Instagram @VonTalks.

Are Your Friends Helping or Hurting Your Relationship?

Boys and Girls, and Men and Women process relationships and deal with friendships differently. Men seem to keep the game going with their other male friends. If one male fights another male, they just keep going and never get to the root of the problem. Females, on the other hand want to talk the problem out if there is one. Female relationships, on average, have a higher intimacy level, than with males. Some people believe that a man and woman can be friends, but sexual attraction is hard to ignore if it is there. Monitor your relationships and friendships closely, and do not be afraid to talk about it with your partner.

    Thank You!

  • #1429, SPCA Free Spay and Neuter, Monica Berg/Be Your Own Valentine

    Happy Furry Friday!

We’re discussing the “Let’s Fix This” free spay and neuter program with Maura Davies of the SPCA of Texas, and Monica Berg, author of “”Rethink Love”, teaches us how to be our own Valentine this year.

    Maura Davies

Maura Davies, Vice President of Communications for the SPCA of Texas, discusses “Let’s Fix This”, a free spay and neuter program for over 20 zip codes in the Dallas area. Dallas has had a huge issue with dog bites and stray dogs in certain areas of the city. The SPCA commissioned a study of the areas and concluded that a free spay and neuter program would help lessen the number of bites and strays, but affordable veterinary services weren’t readily available.

Since the program began, the SPCA has spayed and neutered over 55,000 dogs and cats. Education is important, but Davies says that networking has been key to the programs success, building trust and partnerships within the groups in the areas where the services are needed most. It’s a labor of love for everyone involved.

And, this Valentine’s Day, Davies reminds us that chocolate is bad for our pets. Under no circumstances should you give your dog chocolate. If they get into some by accident, watch for any unusual behaviors and call your vet for advice.

To learn more about the “Let’s Fix This” free spay and neuter program, visit lets-fix-this.org

Monica Berg- Be Your Own Valentine

Monica Berg joins us for Valentine’s to give us some great advice on how to be our own Valentine. Berg is the chief communications officer of The Kabbalah Centre International and the author of “Rethink Love” and “Fear is Not an Option”.

Berg says we aren’t really aware of our own past and our own story. Self-knowledge and honesty are so important before you can be in a healthy relationship. We sometimes rely on the other person to fulfill what we’re missing, when we need to look within ourselves.

We need to understand that a successful life is a messy one. Women can be very critical about themselves because they are expected to be successful in every aspect of their lives; education, home life, relationships career and more. Women seek validation externally and need to only look for their own approval.

If we base relationships on external elements like what the other person has, we’re setting ourselves up for failure. If you’re feeling out of balance, anxious, angry or bitter, you aren’t in tune with yourself. Introspection is key. Ask yourself what you want and don’t be afraid to admit it. Check in with yourself every day and ask if you’re OK ad if not, what do you need? Like attracts like, so whoever you want to attract, become that person.
